I have received an interesting email from ACSI with quite a bit of useful info as to where things stand with camping in many countries across Europe

LOOK HERE

Some of it may be a little out of date (UK) so things might even be further advanced

I got one from a group of sites in France saying they are open to visitors from other countries as from 15th June, however on the BBC today both Germany and France have said htey will reciprocate the 14 day quarantine rules we are bringing in so you may spend your 2 weeks in quarantine then return home for the same before going back to work.

Developments are so fast that quite a lot of the information given on the link is already out of date. Apart from the Paris area all contiguous French regions are now green. Luxembourg has opened its border to Germany fully without any restrictions. Germany has never had a ban on travel of its citizens for international travel, only a quarantine requirement when returning into the country and a travel warning issued by the government, but not a prohibition. Within the EU most restrictions will be lifted on 15th June. Spain is expected to follow a week or two later.

Lutz, your first sentence mirrors what I said in my last sentence. The situation is always going to be variable with so many countries and different governments but as you say things seem to be going forward now with figures/graphs going downward.

    Here's hoping

It does not matter what other countries are doing. If the >Foreign Office< is advising against unnecessary travel you would be very unwise to disregard this advice. Any insurance is unlikely to be valid.

Even if travel is permitted and most aspects of your insurance become valid. I would guess any sort of repatriation, or assistance in the event of Covid very unlikely. In the event of one being hospitalised, possibly for weeks, that would leave the other on there own. Possibly lots of kms from said hospital. It's not a risk we are prepared to take this year, so we will be remaining reasonably close to home.

It also throws up a potential problem for future years, (we've no guarantee of a vaccine)  if the reciprocal health scheme for most of Europe isn't extended, you could end up with a big bill. If 19 has brothers or sisters, I'm sure the insurance companies will exclude those as well.

    Valid points.

We have cancelled our tour of Austria/Germany this Autumn and unless there's a definite improvement for next year (vaccine) we will also cancel a booked Med cruise in June.

I have had emails from three French camping groups assuring me that they will open [some have already] soon and have measures in place to ensure safety.  I also read that UK campsites are waiting for advice from Government.  Perhaps they would be better asking the French! Still do not think I will be going this year or at least not before September and then by the tunnel.
