Thanks Goldie, we walked to the shop and café from the CAMC Kendal site but to be able to stay there will be good. We didn't quite get enough time there to see the castle and visit the pub last time. A much easier walk from there! Very nice shop and café with parking for anyone passing too.

I've had a look at the website, as it would be of interest to us. But I couldn't find any prices anywhere on the website; I do like to know what I'd be paying before booking. One other thing that would put me off is that arrival time is from 2pm. By the time you've set up and sorted yourself out, a lot of the afternoon would be gone.
Maybe the website needs to be updated with site fees info?
The site does look very nice.

Go on accommodation and click camping and caravans. click start date and end date and the price for your stay is displayed under the calendar. just checked any date in June and 4 nights is £60, so take it during summer it's £15 per night.

InaD, I wouldn’t worry too much about that. We know many CLs that for some reason or other put a less than suitable arrival time. We usually give them a quick call, and invariably find that arrival times are usually negotiable if the site isn’t busy. For example, we have been allowed on a pitch as early as 9am, and as late as midnight! Fully respect when it’s busy that it might be off by 12 noon, and no arrivals by 12 noon, but when not busy, most places are very accommodating. That’s part of the reason why they are just so much nicer at times than Club Sites. We don’t take things for granted though, like to check.😁

TTDA, absolutely. If we did decide to go, I'd ring first and ask whether we could arrive before 2pm. I'd never just turn up before a site's stated arrival time on the off-chance it'd be ok, without checking first.
It's in a good place for us, so it's on our "to try out" list

Thank you for this recommendation. We stayed here in September last year as a result of your post and would certainly recommend it.
The majority of the pitches are now fully serviced and are spacious. If you use the site toilets this were kept spotless and had underfloor heating .
There was some slight road noise at certain times of the day where we were pitched, but not enough to stop us going again. Other pitches would not have noticed the road noise at all I would guess.

All the members that have emailed me over the last 3 months, thank you so much(450 of you for a 5 van site and we did not take any bookings incase we stayed in lockdown) we are here now open and taking bookings for the rest of July and August ONLY at the moment.

Our favourite site in Cornwall is Globe Vale, just outside Redruth. Prices have risen in recent years, but we still come here when visiting Cornwall. Close to the A30, but not usually effected by road noise. Central, so it's easy to get to most places. Close to Penrose Touring Shop at Scorrier, for caravan/ camping spares. Open all year. Full Serviced pitches available (hardstanding and grass FS pitches - choose when booking). Small bar with food on site. Overall, a friendly, well looked after site. Often some good sunsets.....

A site we've found this year and where we enjoyed staying was Wells Touring Park. Adult only site. Wooden animal sculptures dotted around the place. Very well kept, toilet blocks immaculate. Restaurant/ take away food/ Coffee etc available.

Just spent a week at Robsons of Wolsingham, a small 19 pitch site attached to a Motorhome and Caravan Dealers in Weardale. Campsite known as The Paddock
It's situated on the way into the small town with the River Wear running at the back of it. The river is about 3 metres below the site but does make a bit of noise, which at least is constant and didn't stop us from sleeping.
The dealers used to have just the 10 hardstanding pitches plus 1 grass one but decided to use part of their large carpark for another 8, obviously these are also H/S but with an adjoining grass area for awning and/or sitting out on. All pitches have good distancing. There's a small toilet block with a shower, a washing up area and a decent waste water area and elsan.
No drive over for Motorhomes but they do have 2 designated wastemasters for their use.
The site is coded barrier controlled and no access from the dealership at night.
All in all a decent place, £20 per night, nothing extra for dogs or awnings. Bus stops outside and small town a 5 minute walk.

Just spent 3 nights at Harstholme Country Park site in Lincoln. Site is run by Lincoln Council. Open March to October, plus usually Lincoln Xmas Market (not this year!) Park is very pleasant. Handy for Lincoln - bus few min walk from entrance.
About 35 pitches, mostly grass, seem well drained. 3 tarmaced disabled pitches near to water tap & entrance. Take tents, motorhomes & caravans. Pitches are slightly different sizes, and are allocated - pitch number on the office door when you arrive. Gate on a security code.
Despite being close to main roads, incredibly quiet, especially evening/night. Some noise from people along paths in Country Park, probably more so at weekends. Site very sechuded from C. Park - surrounded by trees & hedges, but open enough to be sunny.
16amp elec. loo waste, confused recycling. Motorhome grey waste down a drain justoutside site proper. There is a loo & shower block, but with limited opening at current time - they were only booking those who had own facilities.
You need to book beforehand, although a notice seemed to suggest that it might be possible just to turn up. Deposit taken, pay the rest before you go. All which I know some wont like. £18.50 a night. Warden told us they were usually pretty full although a few empty spaces when we were there.
We would use the site again for visiting Lincoln.

Forgot to mention a couple of points about The Paddock.
Dog walking is great. Turn right out of site and go down narrow alley by side of Robsons and first house. Reach the river path and turn left. Walk as far as you want following river. The site also supply a few walking leaflets around Wolsingham, in wash room area.
No deposit required. Ask for pitch next to river as they tend to be more private. There's a small Spar in town but a good Co-Op in Stanhope and a big Tesco at Consett (about 10 miles away).

We've just spent 4 nights at Spital Caravans, a new 20 pitch site on the outskirts of Kendal. The pitches are all serviced, ie Hardstanding with EHU, own drinking water tap and waste water drain. The site is access directly off the A685, Kendal to Tebay road, opposite Queen Katherine School, and stands one field back from the road. There is a Motorhome service point, a small enclosed dog walk and a coded barrier onto the site. Although close to the road there was very little traffic noise during the evening or night. There is a bus stop opposite the entrance for buses into Kendal, and both an Aldi and a Morrisons about 1/4ml away. One can walk into Kendal town either directly along the Tebay road or alternatively follow the riverside path which starts just beyond Morrisons, and is ideal for a decent dog walk before breakfast!!😁
A couple of other points. While we were there a caravan rally was taking place in the adjoining fields, but there was no excess noise from them. The road outside the site is very busy when the schoolchildren are leaving in the middle of the afternoon, so not the best time to arrive if it can be avoided.
Although the site has only recently opened it has already attracted a regular following and was full for all the time we were there, so for those wishing to visit I would suggest early booking is essential during peak season and at weekends. We will certainly use the again but probably only midweek and out of season.

Re Spital Caravan, I forgot to say that it does not have a toilet/shower block, only allows 2 dogs per van, and the cost is £15 pn plus £1 per dog.0

It’s been going for over two years now, and users are grateful to Ro and the Club for allowing it, as it helps many of us who tour around to fill in the gaps. It was set up on the basis of it not being used to comment on the merits or otherwise of links posted (beyond the first few mild comments), and as such it has remained true to its purpose.🙂
