I think that sums it up nicely, M.

Hopefully, much will be clarified in the days to come and the written guidance will be the words we need to follow.

    This thing isn't over yet

having an off which would involve a lot more people,

travelling from a low infection area to one with 4 times as many cases then bringing it home

face to face training engineers will be impossible in a confined space while maintaining 2m distance, but I can't do that at home either, but PM says if I can't work from home I should go to work where I can't work effectively or at all anyway...…….its a quandary

I am sure my boss will have a solution money-mouth

Take it you use a small classroom where you can’t stay  2 metres apart.

At work they, quite rightly push 'social distancing', however I spent most of yesterday working in a 6' x 20' "pressure cooker" confined space with another bloke ..... so much for 6' / 2metres 🤔

Just had a group message from my boss stating he doesn't expect to see any of us at work tomorrow. He is still awaiting information from the goverment, the optical council and the nhs (we are an independent Optometrists) providing guidelines for us to follow......Boris' speech has provided nothing in the way of clear direction for many.

We will have a zoom meeting on Tuesday, when we will hopefully have the information we need to advise us onthe measures we need to adopt to potentially reopen our practice. I for one am dreading it as I do work in close proximity to our "patients" andrely on the metro to travel to and from work.

Mud is the main result of the broadcast. PM did the usual confuse United Kingdom with England. If he drives to Wales or Scotland illegal but ok in England. He hasn't  twigged devolution consequences that he hasn't got the authority.

To be frank I don’t need everything spelled out in black and white, I think I’ve got the gist of his speech

I'm pretty sure PM Johnson stated in his pre-recorded broadcast this evening that he'd consulted with the devolved assemblies (NI, Scotland & Wales) concerning changes to Covid-19 related restrictions; I'm also pretty sure that senior representatives of said devolved assemblies had during the course of today indicated that there had been no consultation... now, granted I may be mistaken in my recollection but if not, clearly someone is being economical with the truth.

I think central HMG messaging has this evening become less clear with its "Be Alert" replacing "Stay at Home" - although I am immediately reminded of the old adage: "Be alert - we need more lerts!"

And there's the problem, One. What you "think" is the "gist" of his speech may well be different from what others think.

When what the country is crying out for and, I think, deserves, is clear, unequivocal leadership!

At Soon to be 78, I doubt that!

If I get it, the prognosis is not exactly that great.

Staying home mostly, and sending OH out for the shopping,

For me ,I don’t need to be told the obvious, the virus is still out there ,I look at how many are testing positive and it’s still too many , myself I will stay in and only go shopping when we need more supplies .what is so hard to understand?

I think that you may be mistaken ...... or is it me?

Bo Johnson said consultation had taken place, message that I got from devolved Welsh government's statements was that there was no agreement for the new 'Stay Alert' message. Not that there had been no discussions during the previous days. Wales is a devolved government and makes it's own decisions. Toyota workers at Deeside go back next week and garden centres in Wales are to be allowed to open. From what I read Scotland differs from Wales in some respects as it does from England.

It is not the going out that represents a danger so much as where you go. If I lived in England and still fished I would see little danger in that and certainly less than in shopping.

Yes, both fine K and thanks for asking. When the weather is good I have been doing a few hours in the garden each day. For various reasons it has been neglected for the last two years and so I taking the opportunity to catch up. On the not so good weather days I have been busy either cleaning or researching recipe ideas.

Generally taking a break from the forum as too much nitpicking and sniping for me lately. Looked in an odd time or two.

Keep safe you two and best wishes to you and your good lady.

The exhortation to return to work requires clarity. Factory production lines, retail shops, car showrooms, caravan workshops? All the above might be able to implement the 2 metre rule. As has been said, much confusion.

+1, yup that’s what BoJo said. He had to change the mantra as it is no longer a blanket stay at home/in👍🏻

"The press be it TV or printed have to hold the Government to account"

im (easily) confused, but i thought it was the job of the Opposition to hold the Govt to account and the job of the Press to (unbiasedly) report the 'news'?undecided
