I've just ordered a couple of those bandana type masks on Amazon as we both wear hearing aids and we're unsure about those that rely on elastic behind the ears being compatible.

I read somewhere a prediction that wearing a mask may be a prerequisite for going into a football stadium, how am I going to shout at the ref from behind a mask?🤔

Got an E-mail last week about masks as worn in various American supermarkets and the final one had a full scuba wet suit inc air cylinder -- totally safe 'til the bottle runs out !!

It is indeed Brian. Cheap, but rather effective. Unless you sneeze😂

Having been unlucky enough to spend last Wednesday night in hospital (heart rate problem) I was quite surprised at the different approaches to mask wearing.  While sitting waiting for triage I was given a mask by another patient (care home assistant with a back problem) from the box hidden around a corner.
After my ECG (conducted by nurses wearing the fabric surgical masks, I was transferred to a treatment bay and (after some time) was seen by a Doctor wearing the same type of mask.  The head man (not sure of his rank) wore mask and visor but not all the nurses wore masks and I know this was not due to shortages because there were boxes of them around.

After being swabbed for the Covid test I was wheeled to the Ward by 2 porters, one in a full filtered mask (like a gas mask), the other had no mask at all, until I asked her why not, and she then put one on.

On the Ward was the same, some wore them, some didn’t.  Again there was a box of masks and when I asked for a replacement I was given one.  I’m confused as to how effective they actually are.  If the health professionals working in a risk laden situation don’t feel the need to wear them then, to me, that indicates they might not be as useful at preventing infection as some may think., I do know they are uncomfortable and my glasses kept steaming up.  I did notice however that the black and Asian doctors all wore masks of some type but the Consultant who discharged me who was white, didn’t.

Its what this whole thread is about really.

Are Masks to protect the wearer ?

    OR those around them.

Personally I think they are to re-assure the people around the Mask wearer, that they WILL NOT be sneezed or coughed over.

Protection to the Mask wearer is secondary and depends on the quality of the mask. But they all stop droplets flying out of the mouth, even the cheapest most rudimentary. So yes, i will be wearing one.
