    They could mark a pull in on the side of Lime Tree Avenue, there is a good signal there. They would just have to mention it on the booking confirmation.😀

    For the vast majority phone payment will work perfectly. For the very few it won't I'm sure an alternative could be arranged. Semaphore?😜

    I suppose it depends on how many leave it till they arrive to pay. I would pay before leaving home or the previous site / on route. On many sites (but not all) the incentive would be you could then use the normal entry lane and go straight to the barrier. Warden would read number plate on camera and let you in. Barrier cards would be handed out as previously when you report your pitch number, on a one in one out basis, from behind a screen.

    We met her a few times early on in March as we were using the site prior to our intended ferry to Bilboa. She's very nice and accommodating. We didn't need to see her as all of the information and payment possibilities were as you say David and we did in fact pay that way, in the envelope etc.

    I saw her to ask whether she had a vacancy for our returner at the end of last month. No social distancing regulations at that moment in time. As you know we decided against going.

    We also paid by envelope without seeing the owner at another CL in the Peak District in March. The system doesn't have to be sophisticated for a small run operation. I tend to agree with BBs synopsis.

    Pitches are, notwithstanding their proximity, sufficiently far apart that social distancing is readily achievable and the proposals outlined above would enable member/warden interaction to be conducted in safety. Two issues remain. The willingness of CAMC to implement such a practice with an appropriate reduction in fees for "non-facs" and members accepting the limitations of same. It has been posted elsewhere on this forum that such an arrangement, for one member at least, would be unacceptable. If it's an "all or nothing" provision, then we will have nothing for a whole lot longer.

    Maybe compromise is not always a feasible option for some of us, CY. All or nothing are not the only options and I don’t know why you assume they are but, whatever the arrangements, it has to be a workable solution for me - not you but me.

    I don’t understand why some folk are hell bent on getting away at the first opportunity when life could still be awkward both on site and off. Local businesses and facilities may still be closed and constantly monitoring the proximity of others is no fun at all. All told, these factors will not make for a relaxing break.

    We use a number like this, one or two don’t even have anyone actually living on the site, but close by. Never an issue for us, like you, we either pay over the phone, pop into the appropriate village shop, or put a cheque in a letter box. It works for us, we don’t need a lot of fuss. There’s always been contact numbers, emergency information etc.... listed somewhere on site. Suits us fine. Others may prefer more interaction of course.

    Hear, hear. I went for a walk this morning and was staggered at the number of people about. Totally different 5 weeks ago on the same walk, hardly saw a sole. Difficult to avoid some today.

    Anyone who thinks leisure and holidays are going to top the lockdown breakout are living in cloud cuckoo land. It will be education, manufacturing, local services before anything else, and so it should be. Then possibly some of the more personal outlets such as carefully controlled shops, cafes, restaurants. 

    Personally, we won’t be using anything that involves being around other individuals for any length of time, such as cafes, restaurants, large shops, crowded museums, big houses. We won’t be utilising any form of public transport whatsoever. Still buying on line where we can. 

    Only bit of pamper I need is a haircut, and as he is a personal friend, will want to offer our support. In a mask, at a distance, after we have clarified neither of us has any symptoms. If he can cut it, I can blow dry it. 

    For me, if this is the price I pay to keep my two precious vulnerable loved ones safe, I am happy to compromise. If we can weigh the risk and take a reasonably safe break somewhere eventually, all well and good.

    I agree, some can be a tad elusive! 😁But then once on site, you usually have it all to yourself.

    thats where a pay over the net (paypal etc) comes in...do it when in an area of reception...or home before setting off if first/only stop...job done.

    ...except that the club would need to set this up...

    nowever, a local chippie has developed a small website, added take away orders (no counter service) with card/paypal payments, all in a couple of weeks...

    ok, the scale is different but small businesses are changing their trading habits to match the big boys..

    remember, CC is supposed to be a big boy so this should be a piece of cake...

    And you are saying that club members will be able to cope without face to face interaction with site staff on arrival at club sites (both clubs) it may work on a 5van CL , but when there are , as i expect you already know 100+ arrivals  on a Friday (Clumber/Ferry M  ,just two of numerous on the network (we have first hand experiance at those two)when they still cannot without "advise" know what type of pitch they have booked,and FM with two sites and 4 sets of barriers to get though surprised

    I would think JVB, that there would be far fewer arrivals while social distancing is still required as either the blocks would need to be closed, thus "putting off" some campers, or if open the numbers on site would need to be reduced considerably.

    If sites are to be opened at all this year, there will need to be changes made in how they operate.

    its been said that the Club doesn't 'do' change... looks like its difficult for some members to get their head around, too....

    In this latest communication from Nick Lomas 5/5/20 it looks as though the leisure industry has got to set parameters which they all adhere to so that the industry can move on together. I would imagine this is a very big task to prove the safety of individuals and staff on sites. >LINK<

    I very much doubt sites will be open any time soon.undecided

    NS doesn’t want any changes to the stay at home restrictions so no sites opening over the border for a while yet.

    But you are missing the point. Lets assume the club has an interactive booking system that lets you book ahead (if you want to in the same way you do now) but has capacity to record the occupancy of every pitch in the network. You can then use a handy app to see all the available pitches and pay all from the comfort of your own sofa, be it in your lounge motor home, or caravan or the services on the M1.

    This means that there is no human interaction needed to control the whole network. Booking, pitch allocation, access, payment. You use your phone to book, pay and access the site. 

    So what do all those people currently running the pretend automated booking system do? They use the information from your account to up-sell, or offer local deals on attractions, restaurants, activities, all of which they skim for each sale when you pay with a club account and get your club discount automatically. 

    This is how the rest of the travel industry works!

    Yes, you are quite right these aspects will not change, as said you pay, you insure, you travel, you book, you arrive, you set up. What will change are the hows! Let's face it, this predicament had been forecast for decades and still we did little if anything to face up to it or stop it. People are sensible and society is learning lessons. It will happen again but this time hopefully we are more savvy and prepared, The hows will definitely change our lives and habits, I'm sure of that, and this is somewhat reassuring. GHUIN!

    Brue, yes sorry didn't mean to point it at your comment, just to the core issue of that bit of the thread.

    It worries me that the club just don't seem to understand where the rest of the world is going with respect to the use of media to sell product. This worrying because anyone 10 years younger than me doesn't carry cash, wants immediate booking, live for the now, everything is automated.

    Offerings are already there from other organisations, the club will not survive if they don't understand how the rest of the world works and how to monetize what they have.

     I think you will find that there are not that many leisure organisations that do as  you seem to expect the other club included ,as is most of Bourne leisure group
