For shopping, many shops will only allow one person per trolley, so if you are less at risk then you go.

My OH is several years younger than me, and apparently females are less at risk, so she does the shopping.  Sometimes I will go along to drive and lift heavy bags, otherwise she goes alone.

    By who?

Back in the day (last winter) thousands of Brits over winter in Spain on those sites that you can pitch how you like, many only a few feet apart. The majority of those without onboard tanks use the bbq point to connect a Spanish bottle. Never seen or heard of a dangerous occurrence.surprised

I would not be trusted to buy the correct things anyway!

up until the 'crisis' we moved from monthly shopping (when first married and busy with work) to weekly (as family arrived and monthly was too much in one go) to 'daily/as and when' as we retired and had plenty of time and opportunity to call into places on our travels....whether away in tne van (over half our lives) or home where daily walking and cycling is the similar norm...

this means ive spent years supporting OH in tne shopping stakes and im comfortable doing it...

i also shop for my 93 yr old Uncle/Godfather, so more than happy to keep him away from the shops.

one thing thats noticible now is that, despite having to wait to enter a supermarket (up till now in glorious sunshine) the actual shopping experience is far better with a fraction of the people in store and everyone giving you a wide berthsmile

Sounds a bit like the way on line shopping works ,with the "similar?" item ,in the delivery if the item you ordered is "out of stock"frown

one thing that needs 'managing' with this system is that, while a normal bottle (or tank) is fed through the van's std bulkhead regulator, any bottle fed via the external (output) bbq point needs its own regulator...

whereas an external bottle fed into the system at the input end of the system (as in the Gaslow hose mentioned) puts gas through the same route as the fixed refillable bottle (or tank) IE through the normal regulator and, as such, only needs an 'adaptor' for the specific type of bottle....a Jumbo adaptor in Spain, which i use with a Repsol bottle in my locker, via the regulator.

no problem either way, provided that the user is totally confident which one they need and understands why each is needed.

however, a Spanish Jumbo bottle adaptor looks very similar to a Spanish regulator/adaptor and I'd hate to think someone new to this spotted another camper on site using a regulator/adaptor, trots off to the nearest ferreteria and buys an adaptor by mistake....

"its easy, mate, just get yourself one of these....."

this would lead to an unregulated supply of gas being fed into the system.

as above...no problem for folk who understand this but a 'little knowledge' as they say.

the regulator is shown with a hose for connecting to a bbq

the adaptor is shown without a hose.

they are very similar with the lower black collar being the connection mechanism to the cylinder top.

In this case it isn't so it would not be an essential journey!

Also mickysf was posting about a hypothetical situation.

Our DIL likes shopping, but hates food shopping.  They have had a weekly Tesco delivery pretty much since Tesco started delivering, but it is our son who has to do the ordering and check what they need, she takes nothing to do with it.  If they need to top up locally, he has to drive to the shop.

He also does pretty much all the cooking.

I do often go out with OH when we need shopping, and we do discuss things sometimes,  but she seems to prefer being left to choose things herself.
My record is not great, she sent me for Tartare Sauce once, I could not find any so decided to get Horseradish instead, 2 jars even.  It was not a popular substitution!!

The caravan club don’t recommend it.And if I am correct don’t allow it. Do you allow it on the CMC sites that you look after.

Despite your latest post and whether or not you consider the trip to obtain LPG for a fixed tank as essential, currently it is not  necessary and the motor caravan is not his only abode.

Whether or not mickysf wishes to do so  in case he is later in a situation where self-isolation is necessary is up to him but he has stated that he is "not keen" on driving a motorhome on a round trip of 80 miles to fill up with gas.

Indeed he has stated that he is "just not comfortable" driving it at the moment.

He had already posted he was not keen on driving the van  before your suggestion and  then stated that he was uncomfortable doing so within minutes of your post.

Can't you accept that your suggestion is not valid? Some may even say that it shows an irresponsible attitude in the present circumstances.

I don't recall asking a thing about how far to fill, or even filling at all.
