Chances of a refund for May ferry crossing
Hi all.
I have a ferry crossing booked mid May on Stena Line Harwich-Hook of Holland.
Was going to Holland for a specific reason (ok I'll admit it was for Eurovision), now with the event and all non essential travel being stopped until at least the 7th May I now have no use whatsoever for the ferry crossing.
Has anyone successfully received a full refund on a crossing (I don't want to rebook as all additional holidays have been booked for the the rest of the year)
Also, will the club be contacting me to discuss options?

Did you book through the Club? They have a statement on line saying they are working through bookings in date order and will contact you in due course to discuss options.
Did you book directly with Stena? I think their ships are still sailing but their website has FAQs about cancellations by you , but they only mention converting bookings to open tickets or getting vouchers for future travel rather than cash refunds.
Good luck with it either way, and perhaps you will let us all know the result, though I think many of us are learning that advance bookings made many months ahead are not the way to go in future.

I discussed a similar issue a couple of days ago. I asked what was the best way to postpone our crossing and was advised that if the crossing was cancelled we would be allowed to move to another crossing and not pay the admin fee, however we would have to pay the additional crossing price if was dearer. In our case we had booked in October 19 so had to sail before the ticket expired after 12 months of booking. So if we dont go in June, we have to go at a more expensive time when there are no sites available. I decided to forgo our small deposit. When the club are collecting the full amount of the crossing 8 weeks before the crossing date and dont know whether the sailing will be cancelled, this is very difficult. Too much hastle for me so well book direct next year and use out 10% BF discount. Much easier to deal with BF.

There are differences between one ferry company and another.
Brittany Ferries have cancelled their sailings, but Stenaline have not. Their sailings from Harwich to the Hook (which the OP asked about) are still running, so the onus will be on him to make the cancellation.

Trigano Dave - did you just book the crossing, or did you include any site bookings?

I was under the impression that if you booked a Stena Harwich-Hook of Holland ticket through the Caravan Club you got an automatic upgrade to a Flexi Fare. This meant you could cancel for any reason up to 24hrs before departure for a minimal fee (£25?). Worth checking.
