You still regard a trip with the van as "essential travel" then? Persist and the draconian measures I envisaged may well prove to be your fate.

Err have you forgotten that some folk live 'Full Time' in their Motorhomes and even a few in their touring caravans, they have no HOME to stay in apart from their van. What is suggested that they do ?

Stay put on their usual site if at all possible and not to leave that area if they have to change sites. It is movement around the country which will spread the virus.

I know of many other 'Full Timers' who will be finding the situation very worrying. They have no other home to go to. Most move after the 21 day limit on club sites. Go off for a couple of days then come back. Its not ALL about selfish holiday makers.

Here's a thought. As I understand it the elected Club Council acts as a consultative and advisory body to the employed Directors. In other words, our elected representatives can tell the Directors what they wish them to do.

Therefore, it's surely within the remit of the Council to advise the Directors to close sites if that is what members want.

We have a Council member on this forum. DSB, can you see where I'm going here?

Would you care to comment, David, in view of the many posters who are asking for sites to be closed and consider CAMC is acting irresponsibly in keeping them open? Your views will be welcome.

I really don’t think this will be necessary. I have a feeling Club sites will be forced to close very soon, a matter of days.

Prominent MP’s are being lobbied, right now, by constituents to act. Some in opposition parties, some in Government. Many have already taken to their social media accounts and vilified the tourist and second home owner. Ian Blackford for example, he’s not held back with his condemnation, neither has Liz Saville Roberts
It’s likely an emergency question will be brought before Parliament and with enough support and evidence and to keep cross party consensus which, lets face it, has been at an all time high of late, action will be taken as it’s clear Boris & co pleading with the nation to stay at home, isn’t working.

I don’t think a full nationwide lockdown or travel ban other than for essential purposes, travel to/from work, travel to/from supermarket only, will be enforced yet, but I do think hotels & BandB’s, tourist parks and caravan sites, be that static home parks or touring sites, will be the joining pubs, cafes, restaurants, gyms, leisure centers and suchlike, very very soon.

I had considered this as one of the motives for keeping sites open and also for those struggling to get home whether in this country or from "over there" The sensible thing to do would be for full timers to head for a quiet CL and for owners to ignore the 28 day rule. Some do that already!

I was sat with my coffee just now and counting the number of people that I had seen using the caravan as a place to stay for work rather than a hotel etc. Obviously you only see a percentage of the pitch users on site and there could well be more than the ones that I observed but of the 21 sites that I use when touring I was aware of more than 12 people using the sites for this purpose. Often when there was one there were others.

Maybe they should close all sites to tourers. Those who fulltime and ?work? from their vans can stay put for the duration. No facilities open.

For those who fulltime they have no choice. ?workers? Can self isolate there too otherwise they'd have to travel and possibly spread the virus. After all you can't work from your house/home, otherwise you would!

Lecture over 😂. I feel for those who have no choice but I'm sure the rules can be relaxed - very minor compared to other changes......

Please CMC is it not time to close all sites and ask people to leave by (x) date this week, this is not helping encouraging people to travel and overloading local services.

i have emailed the club asking for this, waiting for a reply I would like think I’m a member of responsible organisation.

    Stay save everyone.

Sorry to have put you on the spot over the page but something needed to be done. However, responsible action has now been taken.

I hear that the current intention is to close sites until the end of June..  I have only just read all this information, so you are getting it as soon as me!  I guess it is an ever changing situation, so we will all have to see what happens...

No, it’s not all about selfish holiday makers, but this hasn’t been an overnight situation, and I can only hope that most full timers realised the gravity of the situation a couple of weeks or more ago and have secured somewhere as safe as possible to live out this situation.  The Club have been irresponsible towards their situation in not coming to terms early with where we are now, and have not led by example. Twenty four hours notice to move on isn’t good for full timers.

Off to the storage yard. Taking the motorhome out for a spin around the local area to keep everything oiled and lubed then parking it back in its spot. Will do this every few weeks while allowed to do so.

Just taxed it for the next 6 months, I won’t bother to SORN it until such time as travel on roads becomes severely restricted.

I put no blame on anybody such a terrible situation for every one.

We and 11 others on our site are what you would say are permanent we I must admit are here as we thought untill early May , with no home to go to untill then ,

others have no permanent homes to go to at all , they live in there vans  20 nights on 1 off , some for many years ,

can the club evict us knowing they are making us homeless having discussing everyone's situation Nobody at all can go anywhere else ,ie  if all sites are closed can't move to another , all of the eleven have been self isolating for at least 2weeks already ,

About time. Quite a bit of twaddle about how they are following Government guidelines. AFAIK that hasn't changed yet so why have they taken so long?
