To bring this conversation back on track, we have today returned from 4 nights at Pembrey, On arrival Sunday afternoon, check in was as normal and there were about 50 units on site, hardstanding pitches only used. Wednesday afternoon all change, reception shut and cordoned off. "A" board notice posted informing all new arrivals to telephone the given number and await directions. Staff now wearing face masks etc. On leaving (my wife returning to work) there were less than 20 units left.

I don't know about anyone else but given that I go away to campsites as a sort of pleasure thing I can't imagine my stay would be enhanced by being met by someone in a face mask? It is somewhat surreal? It sort of admits that the Club think members of staff are at risk, unless this was a totally local thing? If this is now a standard approach even I would join those that think sites should be closed as for me it would remove any pleasure I would get from my stay.

It would be rather like staying in a hospital come prison camp. Not for me, thanks, there’s no pleasure in that.
Maybe the club is getting closer to seeing the reality of the situation. 🤷🏻♂️

I can’t believe the club is still encouraging travel to sites when the government is stressing the need to curtail non essential journeys. In my opinion the club has shown itself in a very bad light. We all want to continue to enjoy our hobby but not at the expense of peoples health.

No journey required, other than to your keyboard to order online unless you like to join the masses stripping the shelves in the stores you mention.
Why do you feel you have to brag in mentioning JLP, a department store and supermarket, nothing special. Or to brag per ce in these uncharted times where people face hardship not of their creation.
Displaying a bit of humanity would gain you more points if that is your goal.

The club is simply taking steps to mitigate at a possible point of contact. Yesterday we went to a local takeaway. Only 5 individual customers permitted at any one time and to maintain distance from each other. Tape line on the floor and stay behind away from counter. Do not touch counter. 2 staff cooking and bagging the food .... obviously gloved and with face mask which must be uncomfortable. A separate gloved member of staff was taking money.

One private site that I ‘follow’ on Facebook has taken steps on social distancing.
They are asking customers to ring the day before and pay site fees by card etc. They then email barrier codes, pitch numbers etc so that limits face-to-face contact with reception staff providing them, and customers, with an extra measure of protection.
I know the pitch allocation isn’t necessary with the club but the advance payment seems a sensible precaution in current times.

Agree David, we arrived on site before the non essential travel advice and checked in as normal. I asked about any protocols but there weren't any, other than staff wearing disposable gloves and they were cleaning all surfaces down regularly. Certainly no face masks. Not been back since as we can exit the site on foot without going near reception, but out and about the wardens are dressed normally. The situation does however take all the fun out of it, everybody exchanging greetings / info at a distance. Forgoing my pint of Old Peculiar.☹️ Cleaning the van surfaces regularly. Walks in the open air have been nice but nobody wants to meet at a stile, so each direction slows up.😂 I agree that the travel isn't essential, so once we have made the journey home (without leaving the MH) that's it until the situation is resolved. Even if they said it was OK to go, in the current climate I don't think I would want to.

The HO wallas seem to live in a different universe. How can they look themselves in the mirror whilst still encouraging non essential travel. Its not if but WHEN disaster strikes at a site. Perhaps total isolation for all there, monitored by the army. What next for the vaners, staff etc.and more importantly the locals who probably have used commonsense and isolated themselves, but get caught by some Idiots bringing the disease with them. Beggars belief

Oh dear please lighten up
Ps Waitrose and M&S and Iceland are the only food stores in our town centre , that can be accessed easely, the rest all need a car to gain access,,on the outskirts
Pps please do not post rude comments when the facts are unknown to you

Not really, just someone who spent a working lifetime helping others, and pandering politely to a small percentage of selfish prats.
You carry on, but I can assure you that every time you post now, myself and others are rationally looking at the overall circumstances we find ourselves in, and whilst many will not comment, your actions and comments are defining you.🤔
