A message from the social media team
Hi everyone,
We're making some changes to the discussions we post on Club Together and the social media content we share on our social media channels over the coming weeks, reflecting the huge challenges we all are facing as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic. We know there is a lot of uncertainty as this situation unfolds, so we will be keeping you up to date with the latest government advice and how any changes could affect your plans with the Club
But above all else, we’re a community and we're aiming to keep Club Together a positive and helpful place to visit.
There isn’t a roadmap for where we find ourselves, so we would like your help in navigating unfamiliar territory by supporting our touring community online but also offering advice on supporting the wider, local communities if you are fit and well enough to do so.
We would like you to share your nuggets of advice, your tips, hacks and newly discovered talents on how you keep yourself, family, kids, dogs, cats and parrots occupied. If you're self-isolating we’d love to hear about new hobbies you’re planning on taking up, online learning courses, must see box-sets, good reads and of course your photos and short videos which - hopefully - make people smile. Maintaining our mental well-being and alleviating boredom during self-isolating is essential.
Finally, a huge thank you for all the help and support you've shown us so far. Your thoughtful words and gratitude have helped to keep us motivated in this challenging time. Thank you also to our colleagues across the Club who are working incredibly hard in difficult circumstances.

Great idea Rowena! I know i have been critical of the slow response elsewhere however this just what the club should be doing. To take it a step further could a selection of suggestions/posts/recommendations be emailed out weekly to ALL members and so perhaps get an even bigger involvement?

Don’t remind me of ruddy parrots! We once spent two weeks next to one at Marazion. Noisy, you bet. Nice bird though, when it wasn’t unpicking the awning stitching. Owners spent a fortune on Gaffa tape.

Given the response to this announcement on Facebook where most of the replies to this attempt to be upbeat and positive are condemning the decision to keep sites open, it isn’t putting the Club in a very good light.
Whilst there is a balance of sort, where a few are thanking the Club for sites remaining operational, there are a whole lot more that are very upset at the decision and are unfortunately not being listened to or reassured in any way.
All it will take is one member to fall seriously ill whilst on one of your sites and the Clubs reputation will come crashing down. Is it worth the risk, really?

Agree. i have a string of DIY jobs to do starting with repairs from gale damage when weather permits. Yesterday was miserable so started spring cleaning, might even get round to a big sort out and get rid of all the unnecessary bits and pieces stored in the back of cupboards and in the loft.
Ideal time to undertake all these tasks

You will need a holiday after all that if the amount of accumulated junk is like ours.
Another couple of weekends of sorting and decorating left, then away for break at Easter for us in the caravan on a CAMC site. We'll not be using public transport to tow the caravan

Possible jobs so far:-
Thorough clean and wax of the MH.
Thorough clean and repaint of my old bike.
Edit last two years foreign trips dash cam footage and photos into some sort of narrated video footage.
Tidy garage but that would involve a trip or two to the tip. (Prep: eBay for Hazmat suit, tetanus jab)
OH did mutter about decorating the lounge about the same time as my selective hearing disorder flared up again.

While this is drifting slightly, those who are ‘upset’ at the sites staying open do not have to use them! I know i can be critical of the club however to the best if my knowledge they haven't yet started forcing members to use their sites. My thread was simply about wanting the club to communicate better.

Unfortunately the club has confused members who are trying to conform to gov. advice. I appreciate the sentiments in the subject of this thread and also contributors on here who are offering positive thoughts and ideas. But whilst sites remain open I can't accept the club is doing it's utmost to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

I realise this, but given the pending load on frontline services, the decision of the Club to allow and actively encourage the use of their sites, isn’t exactly helping
The positive social media messages are sending out irresponsible signals from a Club that supposedly values its high standing in the tourism industry. At least Haven (Bourne Leisure) have seen sense. Respect to them.

As well as servicing all my vehicles I am taking a bit of garden wall down so I can manouver the MH better and also taking up a childhood hobby of model making for the evenings, been out and bought a few kits better than toilet roll, at least there were loads of kits in stock!

Our age group has been "advised?" to stay our of the "danger zones" which would for us means not taking the c/van onto club sites,
I have found six jigsaw puzzles,, that were given to me years ago ,when i was confined at home for 8 months, .which only one was opened and completed ,,

Sorted out 800 family photos from about 1914. Those people I know I have written details of the reverse. Also sorted out a whole load of postcards from the 1890’s onwards, these included over 50 between my grandfather and grandmother before they were married. The thing that comes through is they appear more liberated than we would imagine

Having a holiday in France booked to start on 18th May, we are keeping up to date by daily checking the following websites:
CAMC, French government updates, Brittany Ferries updates and announcements by the French campsite where we will/should be staying. Also registered by UK Gov. website for email updates on COVID-19 advice and regulations.
Our campsite is closed to April 30th in accordance with French gov. Instructions, and that may well be extended.
B/F are showing their sailings to recommence around mid-May, but that must be wishful thinking, and dependent upon any future government conditions that are likely to be imposed.
B/F also announced that, in the event of cancellation, instead of a refund vouchers would be given which would be valid for up to 12 months. For such as us (in our mid-80’s) that isn’t acceptable, because we cannot be sure of our health remaining stable enough for that period of time. Plus the risk that any health insurance being available, or even affordable at a future date.
We will be cleaning the caravan and getting it prepared in the event that we may be able to holiday somewhere. We are in our 80’s, but self-isolating on a campsite is easily done, and you have to do essential shopping wherever you may be.
There must obviously be many Club members similarly affected, and we share any concerns they may have regarding the unknown length of time this for which this virus may remain a threat, and the question of how it might, possibly permanently, derail their holiday plans in the future.

Fortitude is very good, but you do need a strong stomach.
I enjoyed Westworld as well, takes some getting into, bit of an acquired taste.
