Resetting Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

My Peugeot Boxer based Broadway was just in for service and habitation check and I asked if they could reset the TPMS because I have been driving around with 5.0 bar front pressure for 4 years whereas based on weighbridge data and Continental tyre information, 3.25 bar is the right pressure. Well they did it and a massive improvement in ride quality resulted but unfortunately the warning limit has not changed. This was a non Peugeot garage but their diagnostic kit apparently worked OK and it should take 20 minutes of running to work. After 30 minutes and after a restart the low pressure warning was still there.

Has anybody had this reset performed? I seem to recall people commenting that it can take a while to work.

    I don't know if its true of all Peugeot based motorhomes but the TPMS seems particularly sensitive with regard to the front tyres. Just before Christmas we were heading to Oxford and going around Bicester the warning light came on, indicating the front nearside as a problem. When I checked against the normal pressure of 50 psi it was only 1.5 psi below normal! I added some air and it was fine for the rest of the journey and also the return journey home.

    Thanks BB. Yes, a lot of discussions on the AS forum but people who have had the system reset have used Peugeot dealers. My local garage used a general diagnostic tool which hasn’t worked so they are trying to put me in touch with somebody with a Peugeot diagnostic program (at no extra cost).

    The ride is a massive improvement with the much reduced front pressures (5.25 bar down to 3.25 bar) so even if I can’t get the recalibration I will just live with the warning message. Still, we were planning to go to Italy this year so may not be going anywhere!

    I took my Citroen van conversion to Citroen dealer,paid £40 waited half an hour job done.you cant expect them to do it for nothing.

    I was charged a half hour labour which I expect to get refunded. No doubt Peugeot will charge similar. On the other hand, maybe I will just live with the warnings!
