Updating site data
We are regular users of CL's and when search for suitable sites I find it very frustrating when I come across those that have not updated their information on the club's website. There are many that still show prices that are at least 3 yrs out of date, and even more annoying is when having selected a site that has a specific opening date for the current year I phone up to be told that the site won't be open at that time. Why can't these site owners please ensure that the data is up to date?

The CC does not set a very good example on its own site pages. Photos that are years and years out of date, inaccurate pricing information, inaccurate information about the site, even when it has been pointed out to them. I would assume any chasing would have to come from head office. It would be a bit pot blackish for them to criticise others.😉

Nellie - you make a very fair point. I have asked CL owners within the owner support group to check their details and send the CL team at HQ any updates relating to this season. Unfortunately, our group doesn't cover all owners.

Erm, they aren’t usually Wardens JV, more likely to be busy farmers etc.....
That said, it really does help prospective visitors if the webpage for the CL is as up to date as possible. As Nellie says, some CL details are very out of date in terms of prices. It’s one of the reasons we still like to phone CLs to drill down prices, and other expectations.
I am presuming that each year CLs are contacted in some way to submit their updated details. Some obviously do submit them, others just perhaps forget, a few will just not bother I suppose.

No, but surely if you owned a CL you'd want whatever information is out there to be correct. If it's not then I'd expect them to get onto head office and get it sorted.

Thanks CG. Just what's required.

Both your OP and Steve's reply are pertinent Nellie. Bit difficult expecting the club to enforce CL owners to upgrade their website when the club is poor at doing the same.
Maybe, just maybe, if the price is made contractually obligating, i.e. you pay what the website shows then the CL owner would soon amend it. Don't quite know what you would do to enforce them to update their dates or practical information.
Some price information is well out of date.

Hi Nellie,
We do ask CL owners on a regular basis to check that their information is correct and if not to let us know so this can be amended. With the reprint of the Handbook this year we are doing an even bigger push on this.
Thanks
Maddie

Perhaps HO should stipulate that the published price is the one that the site owner must adhere to when members make a booking. That should focus their minds and ensure that the current information is up-to-date.

As posted before information in the directory has to be upgraded about a year before publication , so can be wrong?, even before publication , and will definately be out of date the following year , ,as with club sites, do we know if there is an updated CL price list available, as with the club sites for the second year

Totally agree. We went to a brand new cl site a couple of years ago and the owner greeted us and told us that he wasn't sure what the nightly fee was! He suggested £20, but when I pointed out that it was showing as £15 on the website he was happy to accept that and admitted he hadnt even looked at his listing.....It was a bit awkward but could have been avoided if he'd checked his own entry😀

I doubt that HO carry a list of individual CL prices. I seem to remember that CL owners have to approve their data for the SD before publication so the info should be what they want to be put out there. Hence the reason for me asking if they could keep their price info up to date on the web site.

I really like your idea of the advertised price being the one charged Nellie, be lovely if it could happen😂
