We're just formulating a plan to tour Scotland visiting CLs in Spring. Kind of towing up the East and down the West are our initial thoughts.

Got as far as Onich on our last trip many years ago..

So any advice on CLs, roads especially in the Highlands  would be valued.

1st stop near Eyemouth, 2nd Blairgowrie, 3rd near Clashmore (Drumbhan CL?) 4  Mallaig then somewhere on the west south of Glasgow before home.

There are a couple of coastal CLs in the Arisaig area south of Mallaig, good views to the small isles, Eigg & Rum etc. Lovely safe sandy beaches. Haven't used the CLs but have seen them and they're quite popular.

Here are a few to consider:-

Eyemouth - Foulden Hags, No.1993 in Site Directory also recommended Gallows Law No.1994 & Templehall No.1996

Blairgowrie - both the CLs in SD are ok but would recommend Fernlea at Errol, No.1991 instead

Clashmore - have had mixed reports on Drumbhan but can recommend Davochfin at Dornoch, No.1962 which we've used often.

Don't know of any over Mallaig way but Small Isles CL looks good, and the other has no EHU!!

Also not stayed SW of Glasgow but would think that the CC's Ayr site  is worth considering. Further south & you are in Dumfries & Galloway and there are many more CLs to pick from there.

    Hope this helps

Templehall at Coldingham is a great site.

We're coming back across from Appin and heading down the East side and staying at Lochlane cl for 2 nights to break the journey back to Northumberland ( it's near Crieff so a bit further from Blairgowrie but a good spot for stopovers).

If you do end up in Dumfries and Galloway then I'd recommend South Port O'Spittal and Landis Farm cls. Both beautiful places to stay.

Thanks for all recommendations. Will finalise our tour over the next week or so.
