Bonterra Park upgrades

Just a heads up for those who know this popular site...

the electricity bollards have all been upgraded and they now have EEC blue connectors so you can connect yourself without an adaptor or Carlo's help.

each cabinet has new Consumer Units with readable Kw/H values and are connected to the office by wifi, so no meter readings need be done at the pitch. a simple system that many have suggested might help keep the overall electricity costs to the club down.

BP has 310 touring pitches yet they have made the investment that club advocates feel would be impossible without pushing prices up...

surprisingly, you can book BP through the Club for €18.50 incl 4kw/h per day which is less than the €20 ACSI price (now not available in Spring) so prices have not risen despite the improvements.

the refurb of the remaining shower blocks is almost complete and this has proved very successful with the showers now beautifully tiled and looking very classy.

the site is chosen for many reasons.....location, climate, facilities, local town with diary of events, etc....but in the past the shower blocks were looking a bit tired, although functioned well...

all change now and still a winter bargain.

..and the sun is out, too.smile

I am not sure that your criticism of CMC policy will get the attention it deserves in the overseas section. I clicked on the discussion by accident as I do not usually look at overseas section. Such comparisons are probably no more useful here than in UK touring. Apples and oranges spring to mind

Yes it is probably even more expensive to make the changes in Spain than here in the UK. So yes Apples and oranges.wink

No idea of actual comparative costs for infrastructure changes, labour, utilities etc beyond the fact that there are probably no direct meaningful comparisons and so I agree that you may be right

thanks for update, might give it a second chance, but did walk round a couple of years back and decided not for us, apart from the weather it was too much like using a club site in the UK and we dont use them often for a variety of reason, much prefer a more European feel to our sites. Dont want to start another debate re charging for lecce but a site we use in Spain is €14 euros per night for long stay and 7kw per day averaged out over your stay, and i guess pretty much like BP you can call in at the office any time during your stay and get a print out showing your electricty usage thus far, and it is on the beach and very dog friendly which is a major consideration for us.

They were starting the EEC upgrades when we were there last June, converting a few pitches at a time as they were vacated. So no disruption to those already sited.

I enjoyed BP, and found it very European.
There was a good mix of tent campers,  motorhomers and caravaners from all over Europe on site. Didn’t see any resemblance whatsoever to Club sites.
I do like Club sites though, and use them regularly throughout the year. 😊

DD, yes they do...several styles, some sleeping up to 6 and the smallest seems to still have two bedrooms..

just checking the website for January and the cheapest appears to be around €69 a night...masses of info on the net and all the office staff are fluent in many languages.

Thanks for the update, BB.  We're staying at Bonterra for 18 nights from 9th March - it will be interesting to see the newly refurbished blocks as they were well overdue for a revamp.

BB They obviously pay for these refurbishments with the price they charge in the summer months, last August coming back home needed a pitch for the night and couldn't find anywhere that had spaces apart from BP who had plenty and i'm not surprised charging 74 euros a night for two people.

They have made a good job with the refurbs and really like the new pitches at the back of the site which used to be for one night ACSI campers.

Phil, the aire up behind the town is free for 24 hrs...why pay €74 if only overnighting?

agree the pitch refurb has worked well, too.

BB no I didn't stop not at that price, ended up at the camper stop on the Valencian ring road in Betera always space there on the outer fields, thought they got rid of the old aire there so didn't look. Someone has told me there is an aire now near the aerodrome in Castillon that's free so might give that ago next time were around there when all you Brits have gone home lol.

Not an aire by any means, but when we drove to Benicassim station to get the train to Valencia, there were quite a lot to motorhomes parked up there. A bit out of the way without a doubt, but a handy overnight stop nevertheless.

thr place you and Pliers are referring to os a large free 'cap park' on the Benicassim coast road to Grau, the port of Castellon, nr the aerodome as mentioned.

further towards Grau, nr the Planetarium is a second aire, with facilities at €10 i seem to recall.

the one in my previous post is an area that was once just a service point, where the parking for MH has now been expanded.

i think this was upgraded to encourage those who parked on the streets nr Lidl to move to a more formal area.

its worked, the town (nor seafront) seems to have any stray MH parking. just adding a few marked places is all the encouragement neededwink

we need the same sort of thinking in Glastonbury....what a tip....

Just had a look at that Castellon aire on Google Earth. Some plonker with a Nissan Juke had parked right across the entrance, notwithstanding there were plenty of parking spaces a few metres past the entrance. How did we ever supersede the dinosaur?

we've just cycled out to Grau and passed both these aires. the aerodrome site was pretty rammed with only one clear space that we could see.

the formal aire at the Planetarium was about 75% full.

we passed the Benicassim aire at the 'top of town' as we approached on the N-340...its hard to tell how full officially, as its part of a car park, but there were probably more than 20 vans.

BP is not a cheap site but gives good value for its facilities, events program and the terrific staff....through the CC at €18.50 a night is pretty good.

    Hi BB,

I hope you are getting addl discount for this promotion!    This all sounds good, but I think this is normal for BP, they don’t stand still and once they start a job, they get it completed very quickly.     I agree with your comment about the complete package and extras;  we make use of the free Spanish lessons.    Glad to see your exercising on the bikes so you can enjoy the red stuff without feeling too guilty!      Continue to enjoy....

We cant fault Bonterra it is one of our favourite for all round facilities  we have a good friend who has a seasonal pitch there and  we visit at least five/six times a year. A good site for  first timers to Spain because everything is available on site and the nightly entertainment is so good  last year we saw the Beatles there.

Cant get my head round Fish and Chips on a Thursday night though
