Lake Annecy
HI All,Been looking at sites near Annecy for a June 2020 holiday.
There are quite a few ACSI sites, some with good reviews and looking at their sizes, situation and facilities Camping L'ideal and Europe look good possibilities.
If anyone has any recommendations regarding sites in this area I would be very grateful to hear them.

A&J we stayed at Camping Europa Acsi 2294 in the 2020 book. Its half way along Lake Annecy at Saint Jorioz. We had a MH at that time but still found it very easy to get around from there.
The campsite has a back gate right out onto the cycle path that goes all the way into Annecy 9km away. If you go out of the site and over the road, down a path it leads to the lake in just a few minutes, from there you can get a boat into Annecy which is lovely.
There is a Lidl and Carrefour not far away on your way into Annecy, if you go the other way to the end of the lake there is another Lidl and more shops.
The campsite has wonderful views of the mountains and you can see the para gliders flying over the lake to the pastures behind the site.

as above, there are many sites along that stretch of lakeside, we used Camping Au Coeur de Lac as it was fairly close to Annecy but it was terraced pitching and a bit steep in places, although handy for the town and the bike path.
Peedee's photos show a more level site, id say.

Most of the lake or near lakeside sites are on level ground and if I recall correctly they are largely on the west side of the lake. One of the closest to Annecy town is Belevedere located above the town up a steep hill. Its within walking distance as long as you don't mind the return up the steep hill or steps. At the southern end is a nice site called Lac Bleu. I don't know if either of these sites are in the ACSI discount scheme.
For a good view of the lake and Annecy drive up the Col de la Forclaz viewpoint. It is quite a drive up to this but we had no difficulty parking my motorhome at the top in April. Here there are tourist shops and cafe and from the cafe there is a superb view from it's terrace.
First two photos are of Belvedere, the view from the Col and the last two were taken from Lac Bleu.

Reviews for camping Europa on trip adviser and campsite finder are mixed/ poor. Particularly those who have visited at peak periods.
i visited the area (grand bornard I think) but it was a way from Annecy.
id like to revisit one year and stay on the lake. We enjoy cycling and it would be good to be on the cycle track and be able to cycle into Annecy.
however I keep searching but can’t find a site that takes my fancy with pitches large enough and accessible for my twin axle van, suitable for a retired couple ie we don’t like loads of organised activities, and prefer a quiet site.any recommendations other than those already mentioned?

As it hasn't been mentioned yet a few years ago we stopped off at La Raviore in Doussard,it was in the CCC oversea's sites guide.
I can remember adding more and more nights on, as site was very pleasant then.
This Club has a site in their overseas brochure which is nearby, but it is a terraced site, name escapes me now.
You can cycle along the cycle track into Annecy, loads to do in local area. Please remember this was a few years ago now and things can change.

There are certainly uncrowded campsites where you are not hemmed in for anyone willing move away from the lake itself - try Moulin Dollay at Groisy, about ten miles north of Annecy town.
And for lunch I recommend a drive up into the hills to the Chalet du Lac at the Lake des Confins near La Clusaz. That was where we first saw tartiflette on a menu - didn't then know what it was but ordered it all the same, and now have the recipe.

We stayed at Le Taillefer a few years ago. It’s a small, friendly site, set about a mile back from the lake, with great views.
The pitches vary in size, we have a small 2 berth ‘van and were allocated a small pitch. Same price as pitches twice the size! Always the same in France, but you don’t have to bother.
Annecy and the lake are absolutely gorgeous, there’s plenty of walking, cycling, birding etc in the area. Le Taillefer is in a quiet spot, we enjoyed our stay there and would recommend.

Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for the replies and photos.
Been looking at routes from Roscoff and for a country with thousands of sites there are not many that are close to any logical routes so may revise usual approach and take three rather than two days which will maybe be more relaxing anyway.
Looking forward to seeing an area we have only passed near to and using my new ebike on the many trails.
Chalet Du Lac is a definite visit and think we will occupy 2-3 weeks quite easily. Thanks again.

In June last year we stayed at Camping Les Rives Du Lac at Sevrier. It is right on the lakeside with a small sandy area for children to play and also a wooden pier for swimmers to enter the lake, and for small boats. The cycle path runs past the entrance. There is a good bus service into Annecy about a 15 minute walk from the site. It is a popular site with mainly French clientelle when we were there.
The owners/staff were very friendly and helpful and all spoke excellent English. We intended to stay for just six days but extended our stay for several stays.
