Next Year in the UK, new places or old?

For any of you who haven't yet visited the North East I can recommend Northumberland. If you love uncrowded places (especially beaches) you won't be disappointed: even in July and August!! In The Cheviots you often won't see another soul all day, especially if you stay clear of the actual "Cheviot" summit itself. My personal favourite villages are Alnmouth, Powburn, Embleton, Bamburgh and Warkworth. I know I'm biased but we do have amazing beaches and countryside. Just look at the maps and see how much open space there is up here😊

Ps for those in need of culture and shopping there is Newcastle 😉

It’s the First day of the 2020 Tour. As the race gets closer, you can download the route in minute detail, and it gives approximate timings depending on how fast they are travelling, so it is possible to take in various locations. Ideally, you want to site yourself on or at the top of a big hill, so this Stage is going to give some great viewing spots! The start of the race is well worth being around, all the teams and riders are introduced, and you can have a good old poke around the team buses, which are very interesting in their own right. Penzance will be heaving, as will the finish. Car parking is usually chaotic😱 They have perfected rolling road closures now, rather than total shutdowns, but expect the odd bit of mayhem! 😁

 Will we be able to book a  " pitch " on the roadside like as what they seem to do over there and all with out punishment or penalty,  TTDA??

Rest assured, Brian, that if you’re way down west you’ll not be far from a Philps and their Hayle car park will take your van👍🏻

They might have stalls, trikes and whicker baskets, Brian. Nothing would surprise me.

Ah, that tiny but newish mini-market across the quay? Yes, a good car park but don’t rollback😀

We have had a couple of lovely Christmas greetings from two CLs we like a lot, one we usually visit at least two times a year, if not more. Haven’t been to the other for a while, but think it might be a nice early 2020 return! Not too far away, lots to see close by, good cycling and dog walking..........thank you Skybarn!👍

I can give you a couple of very nice sites not far from Whitby as well CY, depending upon what facilities you need, certainly top Sites for seeing Moors. Ask away if it helps👍

We find staying out on Moors, and using our MH easier and nicer.

Whitby itself now has a huge park and ride, and a very big town car park down by River Esk, so quite easy to park up and get into town.

Pickering has some decent car parks if you know where to look, one opposite Lidl is our choice with MH. Pickering has a hidden away overnight MH stopover, think it is £12 for night, right in town centre. You can of course hop onto train and go all way into Whitby from here for day.

Again, it’s two minutes stroll into town square and right next to Castle and Walled Gardens. I think Nellie has used a nice CL just outside Helmsley, might be Carlton Grange?

The Crown Pub in Hutton le Hole has some hook ups for MHs, nice food, right next to Ryedale Folk Museum and Craft Centre. https/www.crownhuttonlehole.com/events

There’s also a CL in HleH but it’s expensive.

Sites.........Fox and Rabbit CL, Ashfield Caravan Site CL, Cliff Farm (ex CL), there’s a very nice private site at Beadlam Grange which has a lovely farm shop, cafe, etc........ 

Naughty bit now........ there are lots of hidden away little spots where you could easily overnight up on Moors, in woodland. One of best is just off road between Helmsley and Bilsdale. It’s a Forest car park at Newdale Bank, flat hardstandings. We often picnic there, but haven’t overnighted, but we have seen the odd camper that has obviously pulled in for night. There are spots like this all over Moors. Ok for small outfits.
