Hello ,  Can anyone recommend some good sites near Nimes or Avignon .  Travelling with 2 berth caravan .   Are there sites in France similar in size/facilities to caravan club sites .  Most sites I  have looked at are large holiday parks.

Thank you

There are lots low key camp sites in the area.

If you want a single site between Avignon and Nimes you might for a start look at Camping La Sousta at Remoulins or Camping BelleRive at Montfrin, but tne Club's Touring France guide will give you many more, individual websites will give you photos, and UKCampsite.co. uk will give you reviews.

Over the years we have sampled at least a dozen sites in the area, none of them were horrid, none were holiday parks, but none of them were a bit like Club sites - thankfully embarassed

Are you perhaps looking at the clubs Overseas sites brochure? These tend to have the bigger sites that look like holiday parks in. As EuroT states, there are a few of smaller sites to be found in the area. It's  few years since e stopped at Camping Le Moulin Neuf near Uzes but we enjoyed it. Nothing like a CC club site. Uzes is a pretty little town and both Nimes and Avignon are close by. Another place to consider is Ile de la Sorgue. Another nice town with a great market. There are a couple of sites there. There's also the one at Chateaurenard, Camping La Roquette which is quite close to Avgnon.

Buy the Clubs Touring France guide, then look up the sites on the internet to get an idea of what they look like.

Agree with ET about camping La Sousta at Remoulins, we stayed there this year and would do so again. Short walk to the Pont du Garde well worth it.

If you wanted to stay in Avignon there is a nice site just across the river from the "Pont". Some years ago they used to run a small ferry across the river although the be honest the walk from the site is not too arduous.
