Spending winter months in Spain

While not a regular I have had 3 winters in Spain and enjoyed them all, pick a good site and you won't be bored. You can even sit infront of UK TV channels on some sites if you don't want to join in the local entertainment. Broadband might also be available for about 25 euros a month. It realy can be no different to sitting at home only it is warmer and sunnier and can even more socialable if you feel so inclined.

I fully intend giving it a go one year to see how it goes. I suspect a LWB panel van conversion might not be as luxurious in the long evenings as a caravan or bigger MH. The social thing cuts both ways. Sometimes there are folks you’re happy to spend time with, other times you can spend all your time avoiding getting trapped with them - they probably think the same about me!
I’m advantaged by having a daughter living in Gibraltar so a cheap winter sunshine fix is always possible courtesy of EasyJet and Bristol Airport. In fact I’ll be there in 10 days.

Hi
That's really helpful, at the moment we are thinking of heading down to Spain early October returning mid December and staying at one site rather than touring around.

Well, thank you to everyone who posted on our thread (its the first post I have done) At first I was a little confused as some seemed to advise against our planned trip and others said it was great!
Our intention now is to go Portsmouth to Bilbao and then travel done to the Malaga area for some winter sunshine.
Intended stay will be early October to mid December approx. 70 odd nights and have no problem staying on one site as long as its a good site with facilities. I prefer a fully serviced pitch and when we get bored we have Satellite TV (assuming we will pick it up that far down)
We also love walking and cycling (albeit now electric!)
We will be doing plenty of touring around the UK from April to July but just fancy chilling out for a few winter months in sunnier climes
Thanks again for all the inputs
J&J.

I presume that you are considering your trip for 2020, if that is the case then I would recommend Camping Torre Del Mar.
You should have no problem between October and December. Altjhough it’s fully booked into the New Year.
The area is fantastic with the beach and promenade on the doorstep, the promenade also accommodates cycle tracks you can walk and cycle to neighbouring towns of VellezMalaga and Torrox. Supermarket is within a five minute walk and the town with shops and restaurants are close by.
We have toured Spain for the last 12 years, but landed here 5 years ago. We treat the Spanish winter similarly to a UK summer. There are good and bad weeks, but if you are here for any length of time it will balance out.
We are currently enjoying temperatures of 22c in the middle of the afternoon, we feel blessed that we are able to enjoy this lifestyle.
We have bought a Sat system, which enables us to watch Brit TV, so a night I front of the telly occasionally suits us.
Give it a go! The journey is worth it!
The down side is, the pitches are small, and they are not serviced, but the shower blocks have a fabulous supply of hot water and the washing facilities whether pots and pans or laundry, is a great place to meet your neighbours and have a chat.
Hope this helps?

Hi
myself and my partner brought our motorhome 2 years ago. We traveled down to the vendee in 2018. It was great really enjoyed the holiday. We stayed on camping bel. It was a lovely site. But we got quite bored staying their for 2 weeks there wasn't a lot going on outside the camp. We didn't travel with children as this was a family site a lot of families but no adults on their own. We would like to try Spain next year. I wonder if any rallies have been booked for 2020 that we could attend and hopefully meet couples like ourselves.
any information would be appreciated
