Deleted User User - 'You do not currently hold 5Cs Caravan Cover or Red Pennant Overseas Holiday Insurance with the Club.'

Today I looked at my insurance details in my profile and instead of links to my 5Cs Cover It held the above info. I thought it best to contact the club and did so in case their operative had previously made an error when I phoned to cancel renewal. It seems not. What can I say about the info in the profile. sealed

I have asked for a confirmation e-mail that I am still covered until the end of term. If you read this David is yours reading the same?

I have asked for a confirmation e-mail that I am still covered until the end of term.

Well over 4 hours after my original conversation to the CC insurance folk with a promise of cover being in force and only renewal cancelled I have not been e-mailed and phoned to register a complaint and to demand service. Initial response was that they did not consider a 3 hour wait unreasonable. I said jhaj their maths was poor as from 9.15 until 13.30 was not 3 hours but 4 hours and I did consider it unreasonable and if an insurance provider is wrongly telling me that I have no cover bia a website and then state that I have that I consider the sending out of a confirmation e-mail to be of upmost importance to their client Not a will be done when we get around to it matter. I asked whether come dark and no confirmation it was reasonable not to have confirmation. Response it will be done.

I should have asked whether I needed to put the caravan heating on as I would have too prepare the caravan for me to sleep in to protect my property. As far as I am concerned absolute incompetence

Simple. Conversation this morning at 9.15 the operative made two statements. Cover is suspended being one and yes you are covered being the other. Don't you think that warrants a quick a speedy confirmation as I do.

I could have asked for confirmation when I cancelled auto renew but saw no reason to do so as I could cancel at any time before renewal and so no biggie. When I checked e-mails this morning I expected tat there would have been an e-mail confirming yesterday instruction when there wasn't I looked further. Consulting the documents was pointless if the cover . As this was had been suspended as I was first told followed by you are covered. Two mutually impossible statements and hence why I wanted a confirmatory e-mail.

In the event I finally got another conversation in the last 10 mins. Followed by an e-mail of confirmation. The person that I spoke to in the claims department at 13.15 had apparently sent an e-mail that did not arrive, Nor was it in spam. It was resent whilst on the phone to confirm cover.

No, ok you might not have a certificate, as 1 learned friend has pointed out, but you would have a document stating when cover started and when it ends, if the end date is sometime in the future you are covered. I did not see in your OP any mention to 2 statements

Cover is suspended being one and yes you are covered being the other

if this was the case the second part of the statement is the only part that is relevant and is backed up by your document  undecided

What you seem to not comprehend is that having an insurance certificate (for example) means nothing if it has been cancelled or suspended. It is then a worthless piece of paper - normally. I say normally because after my wife's death I had a documented agreement with direct line. I ran one car in winter and one in summer. I insured both cars individually as fully comp. Direct Line offered me the option of suspending the insurance cover on the car not in use but as long as I did not cancel the policy they would, unusually I suspect, still give theft and accidental damage cover as long as the car not in use was garaged.I wold take one car off the road for 6 months, suspending cover and then, 6 months later restart cover. Direct Line had the advantage of holding the money for 6 months whilst I had the advantage of fire theft and accidental damage for nothing other than loss of interest from my premium payment for 6 months.

In the past before the internet was as prevalent people would buy cover through a catalogue and not keep up payments so that they had a worthless Insurance Certificate to show the police if stopped.

still think this is "mountains out of mole hills"  you seem to have a situation to cover all bases, just hope your next caravan insurance provider has a forum similar to CT, where you can vent your frustrations/undecided,

When you cancel an insurance policy it is generally you who stipulates the date for the policy to end, then any refund if applicable, can be calculated . If you didn’t cancel but just stop an automatic renewal why would you believe the policy was ended before the due renewal date?

I also hope that any other "insurance" has the same finacial backing that  caravan cover has, with the huge insurance company that the club have taken out as is required when going Mutualsurprised

You may think that being told that your insurance is suspended and shown on the website that you have no insurance is a molehill. I won't comment further on your post. The claims handler for caravan cover did understand my concern

To be considered solvent they needed £60 million at the start of the year when they had £90 million

dont want tio drag this post out any further but just put in a search for Acromas insurance and look what popped up

I have a quote from Saga for car insurance and the insurance company is Acromas, which is registered in Gibraltar. Apparently it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saga. As it is registered in Gibraltar, do I get the same level of protection as if it was registered in the UK

would seriously check your caravan insurance, those Apes in Gibraltar can be mightly intimidatingtongue-out

as i have said on here my OH is and ex insurance broker and believe me you would not believe how incestuous the industry is.

The ANSWER is of course you do, but the question is, is customer service any better or worse then the club  ???  keep us informed

I am well aware where Acromas is registered in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. I have seen the Apes but appear that at present I have a monkey on my back .

Not experienced a caravan claim with Acromas but I have had two claims for car insurance and they were very helpful. As was the Caravan Club insurers some 14 years ago

Don't feel obliged to drag this thread out Ruffs as there is really no need on my account

food for thought, if the club did not provide such good on line facilities, this post would never have been made. GN, there goes the monkey.

If the club had good online facility it would not have said that I have no cover would it?

I had my van insured with Adrian Flux, no problems at all, then when I came to reinsure I found out they weren’t covered by the fca.  They are covered by the Maltese fca.  My comfort level was breeched so I decided not to reinsure
