Update on 2020 Prices

There is that old adage, you get what you pay for. Regardless of size of unit the toilets are the same temperature, the site infrastructure remains the same and the services are equally available to all. When on a pitch it is not just the footprint of your van you occupy/pay for, its that pitch and site. If a specific pitch was significantly smaller or the fire breaks determined limited use of a pitch (eg.non awning) then I could understand a price differential. But to occupy an "ordinary" pitch and expect a reduction simply because you have a small outfit or don't put an awning up makes little sense to me. Single occupancy definitely, also reductions over and above off peak reduction which could appeal to those more mature amongst us, and others, I totally get when whole site occupancy is projected to be low or mid week reductions. But these reductions should not simply be offered on an age based justification, they should be available to all who can benefit from them.

There is certainly a case for a pricing differential between pitches of significantly different size. One of our favourite sites, Cirencester, has some awning pitches that are really nothing of the sort. There would certainly be a case for a separate price band of small awning. However, I suspect if this ever came to pass that the large pitches would increase in price, rather than the small one decrease. That said, currently the price for a single mid week is only £9.95. Not bad for a nice heated facilities block, good showers and 16 amp electric. Just a shame about the approach lane.😂

Probably true for us now JVB, we only want to park a MH on it and perhaps wind out the canopy. For those who want to put up a full awning (even a normal size one) some pitches are anything but the same. The C&CC seem to manage with booking multiple pitch types and sizes and their web site generally seems worse than the CC😂

I have never thought it right that non awning are charged at the same price as awning. In that case putting a price differential would be simple as they are already marketed separately.
Although as I put above in relation to the small awning suggestion, it is unlikely any prices would go down. Much more likely the differential would be achieved by putting prices up.

But "non awning" pitches are as big and at times bigger than awning pitches but do not meet the fire break regulations to the next pitch,as here a Sandringham and also at Seacroft ,I think it is the same at the refurbished Tewksbury with some of the all weather pitches

Indeed pricing differentials do work with the C&CC and due to added variable discounts etc their booking system might seem more complicated but there's choice involved which I like. So I don't find it worse when I book because I know the system is different. The CAMC booking system is faster because the choice is limited.

I am happy to use a non-awning pitch, providing its a hardstanding one If there was a price differential it would encourage to seek them out more frequently. My starting point though is the site plan for the site I want to visit just to check how many there are and their locations. On some sites there are literally only a few and often in out of the way places but on other sites they are more plentiful. The trouble is the Club seem to have no interest in giving members what they want, even if it is common sense!!!

On the C&MC site at Grange over sands, Meathrop fell. There is a good selection of both awning and non awning pitches, all in good areas of the site. Some of the non awning pitches are as big as the awning ones, some not.
We are currently on C&CC site which is our 3rd one this trip, all very nice sites but the h/s are nowhere near the size that we would have on a C&MC site.
It is just big enough to take the caravan and car or caravan and awning but if you have all 3 then the car has to go one the grass. No problem there is room, however at this time of year the grass is unusable so cars are going on empty pitches, all good and well until the site is full.
A price differencial is common abroad as stated, as a MH we were happy to use a non awning pitch during the winter months but in good weather would always choose an awning pitch. We might have gone for the non awning if the price was worth it.

Thank you for the varied comments. I have recently noticed some CL's have Facilities but there's not too much out there in the Highlands and Islands where my travels take me. I did wild camp one night on Isle of Harris but not something I seek to do from choice.
I do use smaller pitches if available but on occasions been directed to small pitches even though price was the same for awning /Non awning and plenty of vacant pitches which did annoy me . If the club did differentiate in their pricing for smaller non awning pitches I would of course use them. .I usually travel End May /June and September as these are best times for Scotland so not using peak times.

In this club you select your own pitch from those available of the type you have booked or requested, LJ. Other than occasional exceptional circumstances, that is the normal way on CAMC owned or operated sites.
