Caravan Club Non Insurance Policy

Not quite sure what you were trying to say
I am saying that I anticipate that the FCA can be asked to look at a case but, as the contract for CC 'cover' clearly states that any payment is at the CC's discretion. I cannot see that they are breaking that contract if they wrongly decline a claim. Not something that I want to rely on
The situation is far more clear regarding insurance and the ombudsman

ET & DD, thanks👍🏻. That has filled a gap in my understanding of the workings of insurance vs cover. Yup, I can see where the concern comes from now😕

I totally agree and we are saying the same. They might look at the contract but would see that any payment is solely at the providers discretion and that he has acted within the agreed terms and that it is not a matter than can be brought to the ombudsman.

Taking all the above into consideration and the points raised by Easy T as we are within the first 14 days we have decided to cancel the Caravan Cover and go with Towergate who have a track record in caravan insurance. They were slightly more than the CMC, but at least we now have peace of mind and can sleep easy.
TBH I think others may have a rethink about CMC Caravan Cover which seems on the face of it very inadequate.

Liability cover – up to £5,000,000 caravan liability cover is automatically included
helping protect you against claims made against you.Very important when your caravan runs away on site and kills somebody!
In case Surfer does not return to this tread he said that the reason towergate was dearer was due to Insurance Tax of 12%

Just drilled down a bit deeper into Cover page. It clearly states that Caravan Cover is not an Insurance Contract (right hand side of page, under questions asked)
Someone taking out Insurance has to ask what benefit is the Cover v an Insurance Contract from elsewhere? Down to individual choice.

Who wants to be hit with a multi million Pound bill only to find out that CC Ltd will use its "discretion" and refuse to pay.
That is something that I am very much not happy with and is my greatest concern DD. In truth it is one reason above all for me to move to another provider of Insurance. I have seen runaways on site a few times and did on one occasion save somebody from death or serious injury!

I’m considering cancelling my cc insurance and looking elsewhere to give me a comfort feeling. I’d rather lose a few quid cancellation fee rather then end up potentially losing my house and seeking bankruptcy.
I have ask Ro to get the Insurance Champion, remember them, to enter into this discussion 🐷🐖🐖 perhaps they will fly

It is not that new DD it was certainly in place this time last year and so I suspect that OP already has 'this new abomination'. I also have it but I am happy at present with the caravan stored where it is and I will be with another company before it moves again to go for service and our December holiday,

I had an interesting thought DD. I will be cancelling the last couple of weeks of the CC cover but wonder whether I need to? I know that were it an insurance I ought to.
Off topic: when I was 40 I was in hospital for a cancer op. My wife assumed that I would not have thought to reinsure the house and took out a policy herself on a direct debit. She never mentioned it. Some three years later I was sorting things out after her death and realised that we had both been paying house insurance for three years. I contacted my insurer who responded by providing two cheques; one from them for half of my payments and one from the other insurer for half my wife's payments
