I think using that sort of phrase is part of the problem. I don't have a dog, never have, never will. I don't particularly like them running up to me, even if the owner declares they are only being friendly. I don't think they should be permitted in restaurants. However, I would not class myself as being part of any anti brigade.
I am quite happy to co exist with the pro dog brigade.😉

The use of language, directed against the canine species on this thread is obviously going to up the anti in the "don't get me wrong I like dogs brigade" by those who are dedicated to promoting fear and angst against anyone who owns a dog or happens to see one.
To my mind this thread is about dogs on sites, they are with us, many people have dogs. They are no more a problem than any of the other things people notice on sites and then feel the need to make comments on here.
People choose to go on holiday with "joe public" as much as they choose to walk down the street every day and either enjoy what they see or criticise everything in view.
The fact that a minority on here choose to attempt to promote discord about dogs isn't going to change the rest of us who've owned and liked dogs. Are we looking for the perfect dog or dog owner? Well you won't find one, but most of us are glad to see dogs being cared for properly and their needs met.
Of course, the perfect human, who can organise the world to perfection (in his or her eyes) can cause a lot of mayhem along the way.
"Don't get me wrong, I like dogs, I had one...." I wonder who said that and I wonder what happened to the dog?

Fine words, but as already said umpteen times, the debate is about irresponsible owners, not dogs per se.
I assume I’m in your “minority”, but did I miss the referendum?

My post wasn't intended to offend anyone, but as they say if the cap fits.
It's also fact that there is a minority on here who take great pleasure in demonizing responsible, considerate dog owners.

I am not sure about that although there are certainly some who think that there are too many dogs on site but criticism is of inconsiderate dog owners. I don't dislike dogs but prefer to choose whether I interact with them or not. So for me not a problem.

I'm fine with acknowledging that some visitors to caravan sites may not like dogs or have a fear of dogs, considerate dog owners recognise this fact. It's also good to hear those who feel like that can accept the situation.
I'm also with people who would like to see all dog owners acting in a considerate manner with their pets.
However I'm realistic enough to think that we're dealing with humans who are all different and perfect behaviour isn't likely to happen.
Wouldn't it be great if we were perfect...there'd be nothing to say.

On most years I have a least one or two occasions when somebody's dog comes to me unbidden. Not all on CC sites but on caravan sites. On 4 sites this year and on one site the same dog several times. I recall only one occasion that was on a CC site this year and that was at Ferry Meadows and the dog was on an extending lead held by somebody walking past the front of the caravan. I collared the dog on the top step heading into the caravan
.......... and no, I don't have a pork chop tied around my neck. Can't really say that I was troubled but did wonder at lack of control or supervision.On site at Ross Park as mall dog ran at me and jumped up in a friendly way. The owner apologised for the dog (not for herself) saying that the dog could not help it as it had some brain damage.

It is good to see that the thread has come back on to topic - i.e. dogs on sites. Also good to see that the folk who most use club sites acknowledge that the problem is a relatively small, though still unacceptable, one.
I'm almost afraid to say it, but I think that if you choose to holiday in a way which will bring you into constant contact with the general public you must expect humans to act as humans do - good and bad, warts and all. There are inconsiderate dog owners, certainly, just as there are inconsiderate drivers, parents, TV users, music fans, BBQ addicts etc etc.
Surely you (one) either accepts that's human nature (I've yet to meet the perfect human) or, if it affects you adversely, politely bring it to the "offender's" attention, or, failing that .... how does the saying go? ....accept that maybe you're in the wrong hobby!

That is one of the more intelligent posts. Far too many people buy Dogs for the wrong reasons, thinking it’s all fun without a thought to what will happen moving forward. If you think a Dog is there for your personal enjoyment without expense or worries-dont buy one, if it may impact on your life(negatively) don’t buy one, if you’re not willing to view it as a family member-don’t buy one. If you regularly need to leave it on its own away from its home-don’t buy one. If you have very small children-don’t buy one. If you work(all adults) full time-don’t buy one. This is just a few pointers, there are plenty of Dog owners but not so many Dog lovers.

Improper disposal of wet wipes seems to be a common factor in drain blockages at campsites, so that doesn’t bode well. How about doggie nappies, I guess you can buy them too?

Wow, tail wagging comfort.....civilisation is moving on a pace!
I think next year I’ll get ahead of the curve and start selling Halloween outfits for dogs. Might as well embrace this movement towards American trash culture. It’ll make a change from kids knocking on the door begging for sweets in some crappy outfit from Asda.

Steve- I have to say that I do agree with that and I think the willingness of some posters to use provocative collective terms like that is one of the less savoury aspects of this forum. I prefer to accept that we all have our individual views on any subject and the fact that we agree with other posters doesn't automatically imply some sort of clique or conspiracy theory,
