Sequoia Park
Hi All, We considered staying at Sequoia this year but the requirement to book put off our travel companions.
Having now started to look at 2020 options we are again considering it but seem to recall that there have been comments, on CT, re mosquitoes being an issue.
There are quite a few reviews available elsewhere and many mention this but wondered if any CTers had stayed and what their experience was?
Top of our current shortlist is Camping Au Port Punay as its within a days drive from Roscoff, we have only got three weeks so want to cut down on the travel time, is well located and has good reviews.

I have read similar reports. We stayed there in June 2005 & Sept 2008 and never had a problem.
Although it was a little out of the way (no public transport) we quite liked the site however on our second visit a lot of the touring pitches, originally 400 I believe, had been turned over to statics. The south edge of the site close to the main road and there is some road noise

Hi Harry, thanks for that.
Back in 1994 we stayed at Les Mathes and my wife, and our daughters friend, suffered terribly and it really spoiled the holiday to the extent that, even all these years later, I would probably be unwise to chance it but wanted to see others experiences.0 -
Hi David, we are considering a visit in June. Had a look at Oleron sites but have not considered Ile de Re.
Have been looking at options, due to other commitments, but planning not made any easier by the revised booking system!

Strange island I thought. We loved the little harbours like St Martin and La Flotte, but frankly there isn't much else to see or do on the Ile de Re except riding a bike up and down a flat, featureless island.
Even in August the beaches were pretty empty, but the whole place was absolutely rammed with packs of novice cyclists on hired bikes wobbling along all over the island. I had no idea of where they were going or why. Parking a car was actually easier than finding space to park a bike without coming back to find ten others locked together in a tangled pile on top of it.
We were ten of us in a big family group in a wonderful holiday house but didn't check out the campsites. I would go again if the children rented that same house but not really otherwise .

Hi David/Euror, sounds like a good day out from somewhere else but not for a couple of weeks-walking and cycling are not an option unfortunately.
