ASCI Card
I will be travelling through France from 21 May 2020 until late July. Is May/June low season for ASCI?

May and June will certainly be low season, but as each site sets its own acceptance dates you will have to refer to your ACSI guide in the New Year to see how things stand for the later part of your visit in July, but remember that 80% of French campsites will not be members of the ACSI Camping Card scheme at all, so their prices will need checking individually .

Don’t assume June is ACSI low season in all french sites. I’ve been charged August rates (€37) in a few popular french sites in mid June. Watch exemption period rates during German school holiday times e.g. Pentecost Week. Example of what to avoid would be Camping Les Criques de Porteils near Collioure.

This year we stayed at two sites which ACSI said accepted the card into July but both sites told us this was not correct and that ACSI were aware of this.
At the first this meant that we could not get the 14 nights for the price of 11, so an extra €60, and it was €14 more at the second.
Not going to break the bank but annoying.
As euror says there are lots of sites to choose from and we usually start by deciding where, then looking at whats available and then seeing if they are ACSI-as with AD we only go to places that appeal in the first place.
I have now started to look at the ACSI Eurocampings site as well, and this is proving informative, but you need to do the research as well, which is not a bad way to pass some time on this dark rainy and very windy afternoon..

I think one of the reasons for apparent mistakes is the fact the book for the next year must be published in November in order to get it out for Christmas. This year in October two French sites that should have been open for another month were closed. ☹️ What I found annoying was the fact there was no update on the App, despite having only downloaded it at the end of August.
Its worth proffering the card even if the site does not accept ACSI. The site we stopped on at Lourdes was happy to hang onto it for identity purposes and gave us the 16€ rate, 4 € less than we should have paid.😀
