Planning for us is rather nebulous. It all depends on the weather and farm work.

So, more in hope than expectation -

     - we may have a 3/4 night break in April/May (after the cows have gone out and before 1st cut silage).

    - perhaps a longer (6/7 night) break in June/July (between 1st and 2nd cut silage, but avoiding two farm events we are hosting)

    - and if we're lucky, another short break in October (before the cows are in).

And, because our time away is so precious, we tend to go to sites we know. We may be old stick-in-the-muds, but we're happy old stick-in-the-muds.

Like pliers I quite enjoy the planning stage especially for over there.  I usually come up with 3 or 4 ideas and rarely pick any of them.  Because a lot our trips are oriented to wildlife watching migration routes and reserves are important.  Will have to get out to Barleywood at least 4 times this winter, starting next month to try the new tow car

We still have the York trip next month and a new year trip (site still to be chosen ) to complete.

Planning on our first overseas trip to France summer next year and any other breaks will be short notice decisions.

We haven’t stayed at Minehead Club Site, but can confirm it’s a lovely area with lots to see and do.

What we seldom do is book a site much in advance. YRP is exception, as it’s so hard to get in. But using a variety of sites means we can be more spontaneous.

What I have learned sadly this year is that my ability to use a ferry is not looking good. It will involve much suffering or I will have to find another method of crossing to Europe.

Think this will be our only option, unless I fly out and meet up. It’s not imminent as we would only go overseas for a much longer trip than we are able to commit to at the moment, and won’t take our beloved pooch anyway, and if he don’t go, we don’t go. But with Hull so close it’s a shame.

I love the planning stage. Especially if it’s a cold winters day and we sit down with maps, laptop and caravan book with a chilled glass of baileys. As we both still work, we tend to have four separate week long holidays and try to spread them throughout the year. (Always something to look forward to then). Next year will be Northumberland. The other three weeks are still up for grabs.  😊

Agree. We really liked Burrowhayes. Unless all you want to do is pitch up and walk into Minehead, but there is just so much to see it would be a waste. Can highly recommend visiting Dunster and Porlock.

Francis,  Chester Fairoaks would be a good site for a couple of days whilst you visit Chester but can't honestly see how you would spend 10 nights there. You could maybe carry on from there and visit North Wales or even the Peak District.

We like it too but it's at Horner. Which in our family is known as "Tick Corner!" wink

Have stayed on the Minehead site lots of times and it's fine as a base for the area. smile

Don't have any plans for next year except we've booked a Lakes site next May.

Talking done, think we have a plan undecided

Spring mid April long ferry to Spain short ferry back from Caen mid June. (Have to be back next year earlier than normal)

September until end of Nov/Dec ferry to France, long ferry home from Spain. Hopefully on one of these trips we will actually get to Spain laughing

Before that we have a trip in Scotland end of the week/weekend for a few days.

Then beginning of November we are heading down South for just over 3 weeks, have to be back for appointment on the 28th then we head out again for another couple of weeks.

It depends!  If I am going over into Europe, I normally book the tunnel in November and the sites between November and the following February.  If it's UK, I usually start thinking about it after Christmas.  This is for our main holiday (usually about 6 weeks).

We also tend to book the May Day BH weekend in Jsnuary as we go with friends.

At any other time, we tend to work week to week.  We're thinking of a few days in November, but I'll look at the weather a few days before....

We booked the ferries a couple of weeks ago for June for  our first  trip ' over there' with the van, and our first three week break for years so very excited.  The route planning will be over winter but broadly to see relations in Germany, then Poland and then back by some route to be decided, we may decide the return route whilst in Poland.

We book the tunnel a month or two before then, when we get to Calais, turn right or left depending on the weather. After years of disappointing  sites we do have one favourite in France and one in Italy so try and alternate but choose different ways of getting there and back (right or left!).

I'll start my planning when the Christmas & New Year editions of my favorite magazines arrive.  They will contain the first intimations of when MY type of Rallies will take place  wink

It’s a bit of a running joke with my neighbours that I book my holidays months in advance to stay on CL sites, whereas they book at the last minute depending on the weather and stay at Premier Inns or Travel Lodges. They can’t understand why I don’t just hitch up and go when its sunny.laughing

The only trip we have planned for next year is 10 days at Low Hedgeley Farm in Northumberland, in May.  After Christmas at Sandringham, we will probably stay relatively local for the January and February breaks and, being creatures of habit usually have a week around Easter at Thornthorpe CS, near Malton - going back there again in August because it's an AO site, which we prefer during school holidays.

I have a 'special' birthday in June, so we'll do something different for that - but that's yet to be planned.

We're at the talking about it stage right now.

Its a landmark birthday for me next year so we intend to go away for a month in June, we've got 4 different sites in mind and will make a final choice after Christmas.

Right now our 4 to choose from are.

Pwll Preban CL in Rhoscolyn Anglesey (Our fave CL)

Dafarn Rhos which is lovely site commercial on Llgiwy Beach in Anglesey.

Godrevy Club site (proper seaside holiday in Cornwall)

A tour down to St Emillion in France staying at a Yelloh site booked through the Club. We've stayed here before& had a great time. Crossing Portsmouth St Malo and driving down.

Each site has its good points, the CL is quiet & peaceful with a nice beach & Pub a short walk. Dafarn Rhos is right on a lovely beach &  is a well kept site. We stopped at Godrevy this summer and loved the traditional seaside holiday it offered (plus the weather was fantastic which greatly helps). With the Yelloh site in St Emillion we're almost guaranteed good weather and the staff were great. However without a Car your pretty much stuck for food stock up etc.

Currently my 1st choice is Godrevy followed by Dafarn Rhos because of the seaside holiday they both offer. Its a great position to be in & whichever we choose will be a great holiday.

This year has been a disaster for fulfilling a plan. Not only have plans A & B been thrown out of the window but I have no idea where I misplaced plan C. So am loathe to even think about making plans, even though I love making plans. Oh what a quandry!

I suppose we'll try to fulfil our original Plan A from this year as plan B will still be there as back up. Saves all that planning.

So there you have it - Its Plan A (mark 2). Happy now?smile

Plus 1. Not that we'd made many plans just ideas.

My advise take what opportunities you can, have any idea and go for it. You never know what life has in store, a good job too!

Our motorhome has gone, maybe replaced when we're ready or maybe we'll go for cottages, hotels etc, health permitting.

I enjoy the planning and despite not knowing what 2020 will bring I can dream and seize the day when/if it arises 😉

However we have made a plan for next year and are currently on a site in uk this weekend in beautiful sunshine whats not to like.

Owning a leisure vehicle can at times have benifits wink
