perhaps we should book a return, make a killing and then cha ge the date nearer the time if not convenient..
no doubt the price will change and an admin charge?
If you are booking a ferry with a high level of savings that's well worth considering.
I was told one time that there was a limit of 90 days between the out and back legs so, if that is the case may not suit you or AD with your longer trips
I did once book two crossings in the same year, with one originating in the UK the other overseas, and used the out of booking 1 &2 for the first trip and the return portions for the second trip but I booked that online as it let me!.

A&J
When trying to make a return booking with BF for 15/4/20 return 16/6/20 the message below comes on screen and you cannot proceed any further, so have to go back and do both parts of the booking separately. If your first date is after the 22/4/20 you can do a return booking as it will then be under the new system where you hve 3 levels of choice.
We've exciting news but...
For sailings from 22 April 2020, we’ve introduced a new range of ticket types to help you get the most from your booking.Unfortunately these changes mean we can't book a return sailing on one ticket that departs before and returns after this date. To continue, please book two one-way tickets for your sailings.

Hi TG, Ah, that explains why I didn’t see any hint if it!
Did you follow the info and look at prices with two singles and/or compare with price from club?

Hi A&J, yes I did a quick check will do a proper one tomorrow now we have decided what we are doing.
The prices are very much the same on the 2 crossings we have picked, the BF new 'economy' fare is the same as C&MC. The difference though is in the T&C's the 'economy' fare you now have to pay 'in full' at time of booking, a charge is made for amendments and there will be 'NO' refund for cancellations. The middle rate (can't remember what its called) is £10 more but has a 50% deposit and some other T&C's. The top rate is another £10 but only a 25% deposit and you can make amendments and I think (not sure) no loss for cancellations. Don't take my word for it as I didn't read it all as we were going out and didn't have time.
I will play around tomorrow with the 'code' I have and check out C&MC as I don't think their T&C's have changed, so depending on which 'range' you choose with BF you may well get a cheaper fare with C&MC and still retain the right to amendments etc. If the crossing you use still have the ITX rate I would think C&MC will still be a better offer.

Tammy, if you book on Brittany Ferries with the Club the prices, amendments and cancellations will still be on the Club's own terms.
If you book a Flexi return ticket directly with Brittany Ferries you can amend the outward journey free of charge until 4 hours before departure, but amending the return half will incur a £20 fee.
If instead you book a Flexi single ticket directly with Brittany Ferries outward you can also amend that free of charge until 4 hours before departure, and if you then then book a separate Flexi single ticket to come home you can also amend that free of charge until 4 hours before sailing back.
So there's some some advantage in buying two separate single tickets.

Hi TG, did you get a price from the club?
I have tried online, and get the red font message saying not available, but if you change the dates, to the 26th going out then you can get a price which is less than the two singles on the same dates with BF.
May be worth calling the travel service to check-can you cancel your BF booking FOC?
On the other hand you may be happy to leave things as they are!

A&J, AD, checked both BF and C&MC
Portsmouth to Bilbao with the club came back as £450 with an inside 2 bunk cabin (we always upgrade to a bigger 2/4 berth outside)
BF came in at £415 with the 2 berth outside cabin - the friends discount = £383
Caen to Portsmouth with the club was £195
With BF it was £195 or £205 or £215 we chose the flexi fare of £215 - discount came to £193.50. Which is £1.50 less than the clubs price but we can change the booking up to 4 hours prior to sailing. So I celebrated the savings and booked a day cabin for the return
A&J the first time I checked it with the club I did manage to get a return fare but when I tried to add vouchers and try again I got the RED message so did it again as singles fares. No saving with vouchers.
AD agree prices change all the time, I always clear my history when I go to do the 'actual booking' just in case.

Hi David, smiled at your next to last post as, following my OP and yours on planning, have been looking at a June trip to France, out and back to/from Roscoff, with a September trip to France/Spain to Roscoff and back from Santander.
We have done this once before and, in September/October is, for us, more preferable to ‘bimbling’ through France.
The difference in price is just over £400 but this is almost completely offset by the savings. I used to calculate the current price of fuel times the distance plus a bit.
Now I use the Inland Revenue figure of 45p/mile on the basis that they are unlikely to ‘overpay’ so it’s a reasonable figure. With a distance of 682 miles from Santander to Roscoff that is £306. I reckon that each overnight costs £50, £20 for the site and £30 for food/drink, so definitely 2 and possibly 3 overnights takes these costs past the extra ferry costs.
