Got YRP booked for a few nights after Xmas, but only because it’s so hard to get a pitch there! We shall aim to have at least one break per month, might be a few nights, might be a week, then something longer later in year.
We look at events that might be going on, and sometimes incorporate one into our break. Only one that’s likely to be on Calendar so far is Tof Britain Cornish Depart in September. Probably look at a couple of cottage breaks with Mum. We can’t go for longer than three weeks at once, as I share caring duties.
Dorset and New Forest might be nice for a change......😁

Early planning for me means deciding in April what to do in June. Normally we would wait and decide in May. Sometimes later than that... Bon voyage!

I’m in the 'do it drekkly' camp as well, Euro.
I hope Brexit is sorted for all of you planning next year’s overseas trips so it's hassle free.

Starting to think about it even though we will do long weekends through the winter. Looks like an early over there trip, April/May. One of Mrs Ones big birthdays in August so looking at something a bit special, could be home or over there

We've never been keen on booking very far advance, but now vanless, we'll be leaving it even later!
But we have got our February fortnight booked - next year it's Barbados & St Lucia - and one cottage booking for the Matlock Setter Rescue walk in May. Other than that, who knows?

We are at the talking about it stage
Would normally be thinking about booking ferries for April to June but will have to hold off for a bit longer.
We have Lanzarote sorted of course for the first 3 weeks in March.
Would like to get away in the next couple of weeks somewhere not sure yet where that will be.
Next year at some stage the wish list is France and Spain and probably Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. Time will tell if we will make it or not.

There is some inter generational talking at the moment within the family about where all 14 of us might be this Christmas. Does this count as early planning? It hasn't been referred up to senior management level yet, but if it is I might suggest a referendum.

we book weekends which for us are usually Thursday to Mondays through out the year and well in advance (we have booking through to October 2020) Mrs C still works so we book the schools Holidays at Easter, summer and October (May is exam marking season) and have done so already. Easter and October are usually the lakes so that we can get up to the best places over there - the summits, other places are what interests us. Usually go for some decent heat in the summer but by flying and we book that in April May time.
Also will fly to Italy a few times but will book that on spec and based on the cheapest fares for any destination, Newcastle to Pisa is ideal but trains are good and cheap there so Pisa, Bologna, Milan, Rome are all looked at. Although I once got a very good price on a flight Newcastle to Florence via Amsterdam

We haves few days at York and Knaresborough booked for March, mainly as they are difficult to get into at short notice. I plan to get The May tour of Scotland booked up in the next month. Although I have to join the C&CC first, as we will be using a few of there sites. As to the rest of the year we will leave it till the last minute as we plan to have some work done on the house, so will have to work round that. The nice thing with France is there is no need to book sites and even the ferry isn't a problem as long as you are flexible on routes, times etc.

planning another relaxing time in Spain March thru June, will probably go Portsmouth - Santander out, Cherbourg - Poole return, did Poole - Cherbourg out last year but was very lucky with weather driving down thru France, some snow behind us but managed to make it into Spain without any drama. Dread of dread, Camber Sands next week with Kids in a static

I don't think visiting new places can ever be described as being "for the sake of it" or a waste of time David. Each new place and every new experience adds to our enjoyment of life. That's why I've suggested you try Costa Rica if you can't get to Cuba next year. You'll never know if it's a better or worse experience unless you try it, so it could hardly be "for the sake of it"!;

For us, new places to visit simply means lots of unexplored areas where we simply do not know what is to be found around the next corner.
We may have already found the best beach/restaurant etc but I would hate to return there every month etc.

When we were at work, we used to book our favourite CL for four weeks and head almost straight there, with just an overnighter going down and heading back home. We gradually extended the overnight stays when I finished work, and ended up not spending our whole long leave in one place, but explored other areas more. We have done this more and more down last few years. But I do have a whim to just go back, pitch up and chill out in a very lovely place next year, like we used to do. But things are a bit different now, neither of us have work return looming, although I help out sharing parental care.
At some point, I think we will hope to do what Nellie does and have long trips away. We want to do the coastline of UK mainland, still plenty to explore here. France would be nice as well, our kind of place with all its history, castles and gardens.

We've not yet completed planning the current trip that we're on, and then there's the fun of sorting out the next one starting in December, so not yet planned anything for 2020, it's months away!!
However we do have one or two places that we might visit next year but what's the rush?1 -
I actually enjoy planning trips, have always loved maps, ferry timetables etc. OK, a saddo maybe, but it’s the way I’ve always been!
We’ve booked Brittany Ferries Portsmouth to Bilbao again for early June next year, returning from St Malo late July. As with AD, booked early to get a decent cabin, they get snapped up very quickly.
Was hoping to fit in a stage of the Tour de France, (only to watch) but the route doesn’t fit in with our schedule.
And AD, pura Vida! Costa Rica is absolutely wonderful!

Hi David, I have previously posted that my wife has been known to comment that I enjoy the ‘planning’ more than the holiday! Even while on a trip it’s usual to think about the next trip so I guess if you mean actually making arrangements, bookings, then the earliest I have done this is August, when booking a site for the following August, and the latest being a June for an August ferry.
Like Pliers I like looking at maps and love that the internet lets me look at a site in say Spain, then a route via Austria and then compare prices for ferries to suit from the club or direct.
Up till last week we were waiting on the dates for our Grandsons DofE Gold expedition so just ‘looking’ at Italy, Spain and possibly Portugal for May/June.
However now we have the dates having a rethink, due to limited time available, and may go away late August-so I get to do more planning!

For our main summer holiday next year we are thinking of going to Minehead Caravan Club sure it’s an area we have never really visited before and it looks like there is plenty to do in the area. Also hoping to get a 10 night break in At Chester club site possibly in March. Apart from that it will just be our usual weekend haunts and then see what else we can plan it would be nice to get down to Yorkshire at some point.
