Sticker received for being a long term member!
I recieved a sticker in the post today in recognition for being a club member for 10yrs.
I expect the idea behind this is that I will stick it on my motor home and give the club some free advertising . Baffled why they would consider this a thank you for my loyalty . Perhaps a free night on a site would have been more appropriate . Or just the thank you letter rather than the back handed appreciation sticker giving the club free advertising under the guise of a thank you .

Some people like them.
At least it’s an acknowledgement.

I've got a 35 year one somewhere but it's never going anywhere near my van.

I think there was a time when members genuinely were quite proud of being Club members and I suspect the origins of the stickers are rooted in that pride. Probably attitudes have changed in recent years with people belonging to the Club for what it can do for them rather than any sense of belonging. I suspect there are still a lot of long service members who might be disappointed if the Club did not recognise long membership in some form. Having a free night voucher would be more practical but soon forgotten. Perhaps a better way of doing it would be from the 25th anniversary to reduce the annual membership by a fiver every five years?

We had a small break, otherwise we would be in 30 plus years category. Joined very young, we had no loo in our camper van, so it made good sense.
It is about time HQ came up with something a little better than a sticker in terms of rewarding loyalty. Even Greggs give out a cup of coffee every tenth you purchase! Start it at 10 years continuous membership, then something every five after that. Not much, but a tad more than a sticker! Biodegradable or not!😁

The C&CC give you half price membership after 25 years (if you are over pension age). Plus of course the “age related discount” - is that what it’s called? I think we also got a metal pin badge.
We also had a gap in CC membership which we joined in 1976. I don’t remember any stickers, they would just go the way of all junk mail.

We must have done something wrong as we have been members for over 30 years and never had a sticker of any kind. Not that I want one because I wouldn't dream of showing it off on my car or caravan but a couple of free nights over the years would have been nice.

have 2 stickers on my van "Festival of touring 2012" no idea what that was about, was on van when i bought it, and the new style club sticker which my Gson kindly stuck on the door window, but dont mind too much, had a couple of interesting conversations with Germans funnily enough in Spain who were interested to find out about the club.

Go for it JVB, it’s quite an achievement. Consider yourselves early pioneers.
We found a reminder of how long the Club has been offering some nice site locations the other day. I was wandering around Bolton Abbey Site, and found a commemorative stone giving the date of the opening of the Site. I think it was in 1930s, but might be a decade later, just can’t recall now. I seem to think Site opening dates were printed in handbook one year as well. There must be a list of dates somewhere, but I think finding it might not be easy!😁

My Membership card says 37 on it, David but apart from that the only item I have that is "Dated" is my Sweatshirt & heavier duty zip-up thing that carries the Club Together logo, care of Merve of course
And they both still fit despite my liking for Proper Chips as cooked in Beef Dripping

Put it on eBay, Marie, and watch the bidding fly.

There was indeed a time when the members were proud of The Club, which issued annual membership roundals, and many members at the time proudly displayed rows of these stickers across the caravan windows.
As for how long plastic actually lasts, I bagged up some left over gravel last year into stout bags given out (at a cost) by retailers. I now have just an untidy heap of gravel that contains flecks of plastic - would have been better leaving it alone.
