Booking pitches

Can we not agree that our experiences of C&CC have differed and that we each prefer various different aspects of the two clubs?
This 'yes it is / no it isn't' stuff is just going round in ever decreasing circles and none of us can say for sure what others have experienced. I’m happy to believe everyone is telling it as it happened to them.

Thanks for the link Brue.
We’re also working on the three most common topics from members when making a booking with the Club;
Block bookings
Cancellations
Deposits
Rest assured, we’re evaluating all of your feedback and looking into different options to ensure the next steps we take to evolve the sites booking experience are in the best interest of the membership as a whole.0 -
Well Sleuthed Brue.
In addition to Alan's post whatever the changes are have involved the following people:-
Who was consulted about this change?
Members, Site Staff and Committee Members were all involved in designing and delivering the new improvements: over 100,000 new and longer standing members were invited to share their views in 2018; 5 focus groups and 22 user experience testing sessions held with members; all Site Staff (over 900) were surveyed and all Committee Members were consulted
It is possible some of us have been asked for feedback without knowing that the information was to be used to redesign the booking system?
Unfortunately nothing in the link posted about being able to book a particular type of pitch unless the devil is in the detail that we don't yet know about!!!

I think this has been said before "if you dont like it dont use it, go somewhere else", the club is a business and as such will continue to be run as a business, so things that make money will be improved to make more money, loss leaders will be dropped. Dont often use club sites from either club, with the exception of perhaps sites like Hill Head which have most of what i require and dont look and feel completely like a car park.
from my past experience, i think deposits would be a good idea, on 2 occasions have had to temporarily park on a pitch with a view to moving if somebody who had booked a pitch did not turn up, and guess what, they never turned up not just 1 person but several, probably because the weather was not great.
I think some of what you get on club sites is dependant upon the wardens, who i think all do a splendid job, some better than others, and the clientel at any given time.
For the Gkids half term we have booked a static at Camber Sands £185 for 4 nights, 3 beds, (sleeps 8) 2 baths, central heating, smart tv, and full use of site pool, health suite, and some entertainment, not exactly our cup of tea, but the kids will love it, much better for them than some car park, with everybody hibernating after 1700 hrs. Had planned the IOW but weather conditions not looking so good.

I really cannot see a deposit system, such as that of C&CC. will make the slightest difference as to whether anybody turns up or not or cancels.
It might be me but, if I was going away, even just for two nights, but decided that the weather and location did not suit and that it was better that I cancel then the loss of (say) £30 deposit would make no difference. The choice would be do I lose £30 or spend an additional £50 driving to and from a place that I have decided that I don't want to be at that time and spend £80 instead of £30. Guess what my choice would be - no prizes?

could be an additional revenue stream for the club

It might but it also might mean less bookings for club sites as for some no deposit is an attraction. Makes no odds to me as if I cancel it would be for breakdowns, health, or hurricanes as my stops are steps along the way and not a short break.

How?
I have done just the same on a couple of C&CC sites, plans changed but due to the inflexible booking system and club we just decided to go elsewhere due to no fault of our own, on both occasions got a call at 8ish form the site asking if we are turning up or not. So instead of a revenue stream it is a loss as they only got £25 instead of the full 2 nights pitch fees so even at £25 a night they lost £25, obviously in high season at popular sites the loss will be higher....

One great thing about CC bookings is the ability to amend. In the last 10 years I have probably only had a need to make late changes on a handful of occasions but they were so simple. A couple of times we went away 2 or 3 days earlier than planned and therefore wanted to alter dates as the first stop had been intended for 5 nights and we did not want longer at those sites and so moved on sooner.
Held up a couple of days another time on Sandringham CC. Flying debris had holed my power steering coolant pipe. Had to stay lose a couple of extra nights and so extended following site stay and knocked of Milton Keynes site after that one and brought one forwards.

well my guess would be that they took your £25 deposit and then as you were a no show rented out the pitch you were assigned but did not take to somebody else so they get your £25 plus whatever the pitch fee was for 1 night rented to somebody else, easy

Inconsiderate of them not to amend my booking at short notice due to no fault of my own, I tried they refused so their problem not mine. Like ET says the C&MC system is great, can amend to the last minute no cost everyones a winner!!!

If they were courteous enough to allow changes to the booking when I called them then I agree, as they were not and were quite abrupt about it I feel I did nothing wrong. Their system for booking is atrocious what with minimum nights, deposit, unable to amend etc. but the choice of pitch type is better.
