Brittany Recommendations

Planning our first overseas motorhome journey for next year and Brittany will be the destination Brexit permitting.

We will be travelling via Eurotunnel and hoping to visit some of the Normandy beaches / historical locations en route. Due to illness we require any locations with motorhome parking close by.

  So two questions:

Normandy recommendations with good parking and also sites / aires for one night stopovers.

Nice site in Brittany ( no particular location in mind )with outdoor pool preferably within easy walking distance of a beach. We won’t have any kids with us so smaller sites with limited facilities / entertainment is fine.

For a Normandy stopover, as you ask for somewhere historical,   I suggest Bayeux.

Sites you might like in Brittany are Camping Le Helles at Saint Marine, and Ferme de Lann Hoedic at Sarzeau - both south coast. Or camping Plages de Beg Leguer near Lannion and Camping Trologot at St Pol de Leon - both north coast.  The problem is that they are all to some extent isolated and don't appear to have public transport - but perhaps your Motorhome is small enough to get around each area. If not you might quickly exhaust the charms of any of them.

Most motorhomers hop from place to place in Brittany, so perhaps you could visit all those four sites - or four others !  We were in Brittany two weeks ago - perhaps our tenth visit and this time in B&Bs rather than camping -  but much as we love the area we never stay in one single place for the whole time, but I don't know how mobile you want to be. You may prefer other sites which do have public transport - or look for town centre Aires rather than traditional campsites.

Motorhome is 7.5m so not always ideal to get parked.

We will check out the sites you mention and thanks for the suggestions.

In that case I may have to withdraw my suggestions as I think those campsites only have grass pitches and with unreliable weather in Brittany you may need hard standing Aires for a vehicle of that size. Sorry I couldn't  help.

We've only had a MH a few months and on this trip to France have used quite a few Aires run by campingcarpark.com (sorry not a live link, every time I try it links to my account) You have to register before you leave home and buy a smart card for a few euros, which you charge up online or at the machines at the entrance. The card gets you through the barrier and debits your account when you swipe out.

We have found them very good, reasonable spacing and facilities, often with 6 amp electric points. It also shows you online if there are spaces. Not used them in Normandy or Brittany but there is one 600 metres from Utah beach and there are lots round the south coast of Brittany, although not in the north. Might be worth a look.

    Hello

We are back from a month in Brittany. We have toured France many times but never Brittany.

Our first stop was Pléboulle Camping Le Frèche à l’Ãne acsi 1477. Brilliant and good motorhome parking at Saint Cast le Guildo. €12 and the barn open evenings €8 mussels and fries. No pool. The owners will tell you where to park the motorhome for Cap Fréhel.

Then on to Rcn campsite Port l’Epine acsi 1530. Never had a bad RCN campsite, this is a gem.direct access rocky beach but strolling distance to sandy ones. This has a pool and lovely restaurant.

Next a disaster at Camaret- sur- Mer Camping Le Grand Large☹️

Then our favourite spot a small place called Névez. We stayed at Airotel Le Raguenès Plageacsi 1506 which has direct access to a beautiful bay. The whole coastline is breathtaking. The facilities are spot-on and it has heated outdoor and indoor pools. Quite honestly if you are prepared to move ever 24 hours ever bay around the coast allows motorhomes 24 hours. Not for us though as we enjoy having a pool. There is another beautiful site next door although not acsi. Camping Le Ocean €26.

Enjoy hope you get good weather.
