Where to eat

Ate at The Hollow Bottom in Guiting Power (Cotswold) today. Not a great choice of GF food for me but they found somethinb that hasn't killed me yet! To be fair it was good and my 2 lady companions enjoyed their meals.

Also eaten at The Pheasant in Toddington. Dedicated GF menu. Big portions if you like that sort of thing. Always feel guilty leaving decent food on a plate but this wzs too much for me. Food quality was good.

Hi Helen. We've hired a cottage in Bledington as a pick me up for MiL and to reward her for her hard work in trying to get fit following a knee replacement after Easter. Last day tomorrow but she's enjoyed it.

We stopped en route last Friday at The Falcon as we knew the menu as our local eating place belongs to the same owners so I wanted something safe. MiL always has the seafood linguine and usually leaves the squid but this time ate it all pronouncing it a seminal moment no less! We would stop there again.

I don't often geta decent Pizza these days, even though GF bases are available at the normal Pizza establishments but we were in Bourton-on-the-Water the other day and ate at L'antara Italian and it was the best pizza I've had since asking for Gluten Free. We asked them to cook it for longer and roll the dough out a bit thinner and they complied so top marks from me.

Called in en spec at the Norfolk Riddle, a restaurant situated behind Nelsons Fish and Chip shop in Little Walsingham yesterday. We were drenched after a torrential downpour but fortunately they had a log fire burning and we dried out as we waited for our meal. They don't just serve Fish and Chips but it was that sort of day and we were not disappointed. All of the chips cooked are Gluten Free and they accommodated my fish order by cooking it in the oven, without batter. Really enjoyed it. 

There were various diners still having lunch and a lot of them had the none F & C menu with excellent desserts, or so it would seem.

Whilst in the area we have revisited Thaxters Cafe situated in Dersingham, just up the road from Sandringham site if anyone is interested. They serve a mighty fine coffee with free refills. The cakes, scones and breakfast all seem to be meeting approval. Found next to Thaxters Garden centre on the road through Dersingham to Snettisham.

Last year when visiting the South West and in particular, Bath, we ventured out to Chew Valley Lake and Salt and Malt, the Fish and Chip restaurant (takeaway available) that cooks their Fish and Chips as Gluten Free (really, you can't taste the difference). 

Well whilst staying at Baltic Wharf, we called in at their small new container pod on Wapping Wharf, just on the way into town from the site. It's not big but the food is just as good. I think it's a franchised outlet but the staff were very friendly and service and advice excellent. Went back today for non Fish and Chips, having a Bouillabaisse and a Fish and Mussel curry. They didn't mind at all that I took my own GF bread and even served some chips with my meal as I'd foregone their bread. Would revisit if in area but as I said before it is a small area so might be best to call in after rush hour has finished.

It's not Box E Brue but in the same complex.It's actually the first downstairs box you come to as you walk in from the site. Not very big but cosy and the staff were very accommodating.

If we'd stayed longer we probably would have tried a few others. I like the way small businesses can set up without having to splash out big on overheads. Great idea.

Andres Cafe in Wells. Lovely lunch time meal, nothing pretentious but well cooked ingredients. Very friendly owners and staff. Recommended.

The Royal Oak in Ripon.

Excellent pub offering good home made cooking. Come with an appetite as the portions are generous. Book for Sunday roasts. Caters for allergies with a GF menu. It's dog friendly and, best of all, it's a Timothy Taylor owned pub, so great beer.

It's in the town centre.

Anyone in the Horwich or Bolton area could do worse than eat at Cafe Italia Bolton, Moss Bank Way.

It's open most of the day and would make a good coffee and Cannolo stop or a full meal. Their Pasta and Pizza dishes can be GF if required. Really friendly service.

Had a smashing meal at The Angel in Holmesfield not far from NTs Longshaw Estate.

Virtually all of the food is Gluten Free but don't think the quality is reduced because it isn't. Haven't enjoyed a pub lunch like this in ages. They do Light lunches for those with smaller appetites plus they also try to make as many dishes as they can Dairy Free. 

Reasonably priced when one considers how much GF and DF products cost.

We'll certainly call again when in the area (or even if having to drive out of our way!)
