We're in Brittany, at Camping la Hallerais, on the outskirts of Dinan in the commune of Taden. The campsite is above the river Rance, inland from Dinard, on the Cote d'Armor.

There's direct access to the towpath by the river that leads to le Port de Dinan. Unfortunately the path is down a very steep unmade track which is a bit scary ( and arduous in reverse). We made it down and back for a walk along the river to the port. Cyclists would be advised to access the riverside through Taden.

After a walk about the port we caught the free Number 4 bus up to the medieval town. We didn't have a map so we stumbled about a bit, found the 'old bit'

, had some chips, then descended the 'Rue de Petit Fort back to the river. It's a very steep medieval cobbled street so care is needed and rests for us old folk.

From Reception we got a map, and a timetable for the for the free Number 3 bus from the Mairie at Taden ( 5 mins walk)

to Le Place Duclos and continued our exploration. We took in the Basilica, the Clock Tower et al,

but baulked at paying to get into the Château.

The old town is directly off the Place via the Grand rue, past the Eglise de St Malo. The bus back leaves from just across the road by the post office.

Safely back at camp, we're getting ready to leave for Quiberon tomorrow. It's been a short 3 night stay and we can recommend Camping de la Hallerais. Many of the pitches are sloping and chocks are required. There's a pool, restaurant and shop. Although not in the scheme, the site is offering a discount to ACSI card holders. We paid 45€ total for three nights.

Nb. The No 3 bus has wheelchair access, and there is ample free parking near the bus stop.

We missed seeing Dinan when we were over in France via St Malo a few years ago. Looks very interesting, glad you managed the visit, enjoy your next stop!
