Except we haven't been told any prices?

a bit of piste, but have just booked 11 nights at Highlands End Dorset, 5th to 16th Sept, gravel pitch with awning EHU, not svcd, all svcd pitches booked until 14th Sept, works out at £34 per night, lovely site, stayed before, site has pool (pay as you go), bar restaurant, masses of open areas for kids to play, camping field will be full at weekend if weather good, looking forward to maybe joining in some ball games, and somebody will have a guitar for some evening singing, grand children will probably visit with pop up tent, worth every penny. Did try a couple of AO(tranquil sites) including Bingham Grange, but looking on the club booking system there seems to be odd days when the site is fully booked slap bang in the middle of our dates, pity i have some vouchers, only time i use club sites when i have vouchers.

i have, vouchers i have left are ancient, not surprising really, very few club sites float my boat , and i ask myself, why pay £52 per annum, seriously considering ceasing this especially as somebody informed me that i could get all the valuable info i collect from this forum without being a member, result , but i do use Red Pennant, Brittany ferries discounts etc for my trips over there but no club AO(tranquil) sites, personally i dont think the club should subscribe to this.

What you may mean is that many are moaning on CT , you have no idea how that translates into real life?

Well you've answered your own question there, Rufs. And I think there are other members who probably take advantage of member benefits other than sites. We probably save the membership from purchasing outdoor clothing and shoes at Mountain Warehouse and Cotswold Clothing. There is no compulsion to use club sites if you're a member!

Got to ask rufs, do you go off site every day from a site like Highlands End? It looks a nice place if you like that holiday camp sort of place, and probably very nice if weather is ropey, or in cooler seasons, but a site for us tends to be just somewhere to come back to, cook and sleep mainly. No children with us of course.

🤔
That's a strange post, David.

It’s possibly because I asked rufs a question, but it’s a genuine one, and I am quite happy if others who use this sort of site (and recall I haven’t criticised it in any way) want to answer. Bear in mind rufs has said that they are using site for around 11 nights, so it’s not a long trip where you might want to laze around every few days on site. If we are away for a long period, say four weeks, we often have a day not going out, but staying around the outfit. Such a Site is not something I have any experience of using, although I did once spend a day at a Centre Parcs as part of a degree course, and was very impressed.

Um, not quite sure what on earth that means in this context, PD. You asked a question and have got an almost unanimous response . In principle, folk seem to be saying no, they wouldn't be more inclined to use club sites at peak times if they were AO.
But it would be interesting to know the basis on which you posed the question - location of sites, relative price, size facilities etc. But I'm not holding my breath - I well remember that "bargain site" with metered electricity which, after lengthy debate, turned out to be a THS for the other club!

Well taking a sample of ten perhaps twenty people who 'moan' about pricing on here and using that for a basis that all hundred of thousands of members are 'moaning' is just plain ridiculous. Not to mention how biased (mathematically) this sample is. I am surprised that you could even write that.
Anyway, I've noticed that you still haven't given any details of these two site's prices, sizes, or really anything that would help in answering your OP.
I wonder what we can infer from that?

But at least price would help in answering that?
It would not if the price of the AO was double that on the club site.

But a while ago this 'minority' was part of your no smoke without fire ?

Most of those who "moan" about prices seem to be those who don't use club sites anyway.
Perhaps, M, the reason that "those that moan" don't use them because of the price...just a thought.
