    true.

    although I don't have nightly averages for our many nights away each year, I'll wager that £30 for a night is around (at least) twice what we pay as our uk breaks are moving ever more towards a mix of CL and THS sites, and our continental nights are of mix of ACSI (€15-€18) and Aires/others (€0-€10).

    so, we would see a £30 club site as being both expensive, in line with our normal spend, and poor value compared to what we normally get for our money.

    others see things differently, but as we do about 30 weeks a year in the van, that level of expenditure would be over £6000 a year for site fees.

    perhaps a couple who only do a few weeks a year might manage the overall cost a bit better, but plenty of folk on this forum who do many weeks/months away each year, seek out better value than their club offers in its sites...with CLs being well to the fore (in the uk) and out of season travel and discount schemes for those going over the water.

    Generally in this country we prefer to stop on CAMC sites. I think in general they represent good value for money. A few I feel are slightly overpriced at peak, whilst a few are underpriced most of the year. I am sure if it was a commercial site at Baltic Wharf, weekends would be priced at more than the £23.8 to £36.6 currently charged.

    And yet how many comments do we see on here about club sites being full of pensioners? undecided

    Either (a) they do consider it affordable and it suits their needs or (b) it's a complete fallacy peddled by some to suit their particular point of view (often those who don't use sites themselves or used to but do so no longer). Can't have it both ways!

    Or (c) they don’t need income to pay for their holidays but use their hard earned capital to fund leisure activities. It is allowed. 🙂

    We are all different, thank goodness, and have different priorities in life. If we didn’t do our charity works and other commitments I would be over there for about 6 months in the winter and just fly home for birthdays and Christmas.  Sadly this is still a dream so we only manage an average of about 120/nights a year and have to pay the going rate for where we want to be. If you feel club sites are too expensive go elsewhere.  In a lot of ways this thread is much like UK caravan quality, whilst folk continue to buy them nothing will change, while we continue to use club sites there’s no incentive to change
