Mr Google says that the CMC was asking CL,s to charge £15 a night a while back. I wonder if that's because they now see them as competition for their own sites?

Hence low attendance as observers are stating.

    Please pontificate (posh word) more.

So the information published is  aimend at companies who could be looking for a large "affluent "part of the U.K. population to take out  advertisements in the club magazinecool

That was to "assist" CL owners to recognise the costs that they would have with today's prices for the legal requirements needed to give them some income as wellsurprised

Or make them less competitive towards CMC sites, which makes more sense than telling folk in business how to be in business, speaking as someone who in another lifetime ran patents wholesale bakery

You make a valid point, so I suggest a discount for non-dog owners, then everyones happy!

Just to let you know high season rates will still apply at a lot of campsites in Bavaria as the schools don’t return until 10 Sep 2019.

l’ve just checked a couple of campsite on Acsi to confirm

Mid September will be back in the UK and stay at Rookesbury Park £23.90/night which I think is really reasonable

If, like we do, you  have good on board facilities, why bother with site facilities?

My OH is disabled and having had 2 broken shoulders, now needs my help, with showering.  If on a CAMC or CCC site, we will use the disabled room, if it is close enough and the weather is suitable to walk there.

However, we have been increasingly finding that it is just much easier to use our own facilities, so why pay for a full CAMC, or CCC site, when we can get a CL or CS for £15 per night, or less, often with a serviced pitch?

Over there, we find that there are disabled facilities, but they are often inside the male and female blocks, not a unisex room like on Club sites, and often do not have a take down shower head, which quite frankly just does not work for OH.

Generally, whether here or there, the suitability will depend on the actual disability.

We decided, 20 odd years back, that if we were to return to caravanning, we had to have whatever we needed in the van, not depend on what a site could provide.  This approach has worked well for us, and allows us to use any site that has EHU.  We have no solar panels, so have decided that other than the odd 1 night stopover, we need EHU.

Not so, there are disabled facilities, just that my OH needs me with her as she cannot lift her arms above shoulder level, which may well not be the case for others.

It does vary from country to country and site to site, just like in UK, ....we found Austria excellent, France less so......we have not been to Spain or many places that David has been.

My point is that we are self sufficient, as many  caravanners can be, so we do not worry what the facilities are like, here or there, we use our own and save money by using less expensive sites, allowing us more nights away.

RADAR scheme is a UK thing, other countries have different schemes.  Some sites have the disabled facilities without locks, others you have to ask if a key is needed.   So much easier just to use our own facilities.

Some CLs  and small private sites have excellent disabled loo/shower rooms JVB. In fact many that provide them are far superior than those “assisted cubicle” type that the Club so loves. Many have a full room, a proper seat, lots of hooks to hang clothes and towels. We have even seen a few with showering chairs provided, for those who rely upon a wheelchair. The only time I have used the disabled loo is when main loos have been closed for cleaning, so I am not overly familiar with any that have shower rooms as well, separate from the other showers.

No idea on facilities in Europe, although I understand that in the past French loos were a tad dodgy in places?

Most cc sites have  full unisex disabled rooms as you describe hence another good reason we use the sites network as we know with all other aspects of the sites there is no need to be concerned about what to expect hence my questions, and  we have a dog who we will not kennelsurprised

They work ideally for you then JVB. Should you ever get up this way again, a nice small private site I can recommend is Cliff Farm near Pickering. Has an excellent disabled room, heated as well. Good site for dogs as well. None of pitches are far away from facilities.🙂

My OH just needs reassurance, hence a full disabled room as on most club sites is vital ,as it is not unknown for her to fall without any prior notice ,we have a two berth caravan with good facilities but not big enough for OH to use on a regular basis

Best to stick with whatever your good lady feels confident with JV. It’s her choice and what suits her best/easiest. You can’t put a price on confidence........😁 Long may you still get out touring!
