Nah, break time is break time. Tea and biscuits and a natter about anything other than clubwink

Step in the back office, you're doing admin, step in reception you're serving customers, step in the workshop, you're on the tools. Applies to us all and is good teamwork.laughing

We left 25c at home BB for between 16-21c in Devon, admittedly we were up on Moors, but it’s been hot and drier at home. Pot luck, we didn’t go to sunbathe, but it's noticeably less busy traffic wise in Devon at the moment, we didn’t experience any traffic at all on routes to and from coast.  But I digress.....

The Club admits its site occupancy levels during peak season are not as good as outside off peak.. it appears to be worse this year than last. Given the Club's demographic, there may well be a case for leveling out prices throughout the year especially  at sites under used during peak.

    Interesting times ahead I suspect.

There may be but, personally, that would not tempt me out between 27th July and 27th August.

Where was that admission PD? And appears worse this year how? By the posts on CT or have you been on sites throughout the year?

And what is the club's demographic and again how do you know? Where has this been given?

When I stay midweek to midweek, there is a total change of 'demographic' from weekends days to weekend.

What might make more sense is for the club to increase prices, above the current rates, for Friday and Saturday. Purely at sites that have weekends oversubscribed months in advance. They could then discount the midweek to try and pull more folk in when the sites are only half full. As long as they didn't over milk it and the site continued to be full at weekends, they couldn't really loose. Say £3 more at weekends x 100 (£300) £3 less midweek x 50 (-£150). Plus of course they might get a few extra midweek.

I know we already have mid week discount at some sites but even in those locations the weekend price could be increased further. Clumber a mid week discount site, is rammed at weekends.

Before anyone shouts discrimination against the workers. It's just market forces, hotels do it, airlines do it. Even the club ramps up prices in the holidays when families are taking their breaks.

What doesn't make sense, is to just keep putting prices up by significantly more than inflation, with apparent little regard to its affects on occupation figures.

interesting, but making weekends prices more expensive will affect 'weekenders' and those retired folk who tour after the school holidays and include weekends in their tour? Off peak is from 2nd September till mid October.

People complain often enough about high prices and making them higher won't help. Also a few complain there are too many price bands already?

If having MWD isn't enough to get people to come to sites what is?

    Is that £3 a night more at weekends? 3x100x2nights = + £600

    £3 a night at weekday = -3x50x5 = -£750

If you are talking Clumber Park I would only arrive there on Sunday PM and Leave Friday AM

Dont know what the answer is, but surely more occupancy is better than annual price rises and less and less occupancy. More carrot and less stick.

The 'honeypot' sites, ie within a couple of hours tow time from Large Cities, or even in a City, need no help as they seem to be thriving, York,Chester,Bristol, Derbyshire 0and the Cotswolds.

Its the equally important outlying Sites that need the help to boost occupancy. The blanket High/mid/low  season pricing seems to be the problem. Speaking personally from my own reactions.

Maybe too, the CMC are victims a little of their own model.

Perhaps more and more price conscious  members are turning their backs on CMC sites and using CL's!. These type or near type of posts are all over the forum.

"Dont know what the answer is, but surely more occupancy is; better than annual price rises and less and less occupancy.".

I'm not sure it's quite as clear cut as that, Ray.  We don't  use club sites at peak times, but the one thing that would make me avoid them at other times is if I looked at late availability and saw that a site was likely to be almost full. I'm guessing that someone at the club has done their homework and established an ideal overall occupancy level at sites.  And I'm also guessing that someone has done their homework regarding pricing. Returning to the OP I just checked Chatsworth for October half term and for 2 adults with a van and awning a standard pitch works out at £28.10. Meanwhile at Callow Top, not a million miles away it'd be £29. Not that I'd be using either of them when I know of a first class CL in the area at £14 a night! smile

well very interesting but that is the marketing for advertisers for the magazine? And wow it is good I think?

It is not the demographic of the club only 'typical profile of those who read the magazine'

Could be the actual demographic but that profile isn't what I see on site at weekends and school holidays.

Not posh - rich, there is a difference.

Everyone in the club gets one, whether they like it or not(?).So yep it is a fair summary. Plus how do they gather such info? Surely from membership details as the primary source?

Check out the CT stats too.
