Water pump problem
Probably everyone knows this except me, but just in case!
We are away in our new (to us) caravan and the on board Ultraflow water pump refused to turn off and air was getting in to system. Went through all the possibilities: looked for leaks, inlet hose split or adrift from assembly. Checked the O rings were not split. Started worrying about the pump diaphragm, whole pump, non-return valve and how to get it fixed while away without buying expensive parts which may or may not fix the problem. Decided to try a spare O ring on the intake hose assembly - cured!
Looking more closely, although intact the O rings are hard and have lost their elasticity and so are no longer sealing. Off tomorrow to buy a replacement for the second one and some spares.
Out of curiosity, why have the manufacturers stopped fitting filters?

Why do you want a filter?
The water on sites is perfectly safe to drink, just like at home, do you have a filter at home?
A filter is just another expense, and can actually contain bacteria.
You have not said which van you have. We have Swift group van, and they have not fitted filters for at least 22 years.

Agree with Kj. Filters go green and gungy and need changing regularly at silly prices.

When we had a caravan with the carbon filter ,I was unable to get a real reason why it was needed in this country, when the water from a mains connected tap did not require one at home, so as with many others I think, I removed it and just replaced the screw cap ,

I have a bailey unicorn vigo, after the external water pipe has been on for the first time on the water barrel, when I come to fill the aqua roll for the second time the hose from the van to the roll wont come of. I have to put a screw driver on the side between the van and hose block turn it a little and pull. Any ideas ??
