Bosnia Insurance
We are visiting Croatia in September. At one point Bosnia comes right down to the coast and it is necessary to travel through 20 Km of Bosnia. My insurer Saga will not issue a green card for Bosnia. I had a similar problem about five years ago but the insurer eventually relented. The CAMC touring book advises getting insurance at the frontier.
Has anyone experience of this and if so how easy was it, does it cover car and outfit comprehensively and at what cost?
Thank you

You can't buy insurance at that border crossing. Some people drive carefully through that short stretch of Bosnia without insurance , others take the ferry from Ploce to Trpanj to stay in Croatian territory .

We drove through carefully, only found out about Bosnia from the guide when it was too late. Had we known, we would have taken the ferry. Someone will come a cropper one day, for the cost of the ferry and peace of mind I know what I would do now.
Lovely trip!

The ferry takes an hour. You just turn up and wait for the next ferry. Here's a link to the ferry timetable and prices.
You can then enjoy visiting sites in the Peljesac peninsula and tasting their fine wines. The scenery is pretty dramatic too!

Thank you for your help.
The Ferry looks like a good option.
Although I have Motoring and Personal cover from CAMC I was unaware they could issue a green card. Should anyone else be interested below is the Clubs comment

Thank you for your email, there are insurance products that can be picked up on the border as you enter Bosnia. If you are only travelling through Bosnia to reach the southern end of Croatia, there is a ferry from Ploce to Trpanj which avoids Bosnia and is an alternative route to driving.
The Club do provide a breakdown cover and personal (medical) travel insurance which covers Bosnia and a green card can be provided.
Should you have any further questions then please feel free to contact us."
