All the SuperU supermarket and Total diesel pumps we used last week were B7. It means that the diesel contains 7% biofuel I believe - that's the normal stuff. It all worked perfectly.

We didn't see any pumps marked B10 - but your car handbook or dealer will tell you if your car can use diesel with 10% bio product in it.

Gaz, you are right to be wary.

As a follow up to your query I googled B10 diesel to see what information there was, and immediately got a long piece by a European authority stating which cars/engines are OK with this fuel n France, and found that my own car is in a long list for which is is NOT compatible at all.

Gaz, come on catch up, its been marked the same in the UK for a while now.

It is a European standard for labelling fuel in the whole of continental of Europe from Iceland to the Russian border. It standardises the quality of fuel for all outlets and gives them the same designation.

And before some xenophobe starts prattling on about more rubbish legislation foisted upon us by the nasty foreigners, it may be worth looking at why it has been introduced and the benefits of the UK adopting this legislation that it had a significant hand in developing.
