Some things I like to find on campsites

Sounds lovely! I can hear our private pool (otherwise known as ‘a garden’) filling up as I type! Proper Dartmoor weather outside at the moment. 😁

OK then I like to find a CAMC sign. That takes care of all the other likes I have.

And I can empathise with that as well HD. If something you like doing becomes unavailable, for whatever reason, you make the most of what comes your way, no matter the facilities or cost!👍

I would say we generally concur with the OP's views, although we have never set out a list of preferences in that way. Where we are familiar with a campsite (not CAMC), we keep a note of which pitches we would prefer in order of preference and ask for a nominated pitch when we book. Amenity block facilities/conditions do not bother us as we make full use of our caravan facilities at all times.
With onboard self-sufficiency in mind, I think the art of camping is being able to accommodate those factors which cannot be changed.

Glad to see a number of people liking dark skies. We really enjoyed a site (Other Club CS) in N Norfolk recently which had minimal site lighting, and that which was, was aimed downwards, so allowing gorgeous starry skies.
I find many sites are so keen on bright beacons on the bollards that it's really hard to enjoy walking around at night.
I can see that some lighting is useful, but maybe more frequent, dimmer ones, which is all one needs to see the ground, rather than the mini-lighthouses which destroy any chance of getting night vision going. And in our pre-caravan days, our all time favourite tent site involved several hundred unlit yards of walking down the track to the loo block by the farmhouse which did have a guiding light on it. In decent weather, it made going to the loo in the night a thoroughly pleasant excursion, though in poor weather, less so!

Not a campsite, but here at little hamlet on Dartmoor, we need a torch to get up to go to loo! Can’t help sneaking a peek outside and looking at stars, sadly we haven’t had a lot of clear skies, but when we do it’s lovely. Last night was a big moon night, so we could pick out all the tors and hills around us. There is next to no noise as well, the odd hoot of an owl, the odd scurrying in undergrowth. It’s a magical place. 😁
