Could it be that this may be the first of many? Following the recent price hikes, it's good to see the Club being reactive, bearing in mind the number of pitches available and that we're in high season, a saving of £1.30 per night!

Probably not enough if that is what used to be Low Park Wood.

As I recall it is not the best of sites, tree covered and many pitches difficult to access. This was what it was like when I used it many years ago and I have seen similar view points expressed more recently. Unless it has changed significantly I am unlikely to use it at any price. It will appeal more to those with smaller outfits, lovers of shade and trout fishermen.

Depends on what one wants DD. I suspect that Peedee does not like the fact that the pitches are mainly in clearings in the woods. Some pitches are quite secluded.

Sorry PD - missed your post.

I've been a couple of times and loved it both times (Spring & Autumn) I love the site and its layout. It's so natural and secluded in parts and what suits me, doesn't necessarily suit others. I do prefer this type of site to the 'car park' gravel ones and now it's cheaper - it may we'll attract more people?

We like secluded pitches, enjoy watching wildlife around us, rather than getting choked by BBQ smoke or listening to next doors radio music choice, not anti people, but like peace and quiet.

Low Manesty, New England Bay, Low Park Wood (or whatever they are called now ?)

    to name but 3.

'Honey Pot' sites only on very low season perhaps.

I have only been once in recent times and that was the late may bank holiday. We had been on a scottish tour and decided to book on the spur of the moment on our way home. Given that we were on a pretty secluded pitch (it was very busy) I was amazed

It is a site that I had used fairly regularly over 30 years ago as one of many short breaks with the kids. We would probably have visited during Spring and Autumn. After a day out my eldest would disappear into the woods with her sketch pad. We found the location handy for us.

Shame it doesn't apply to Bridlington, for two adults that's £1.70 more expensive next year at peak at £37.20 per night an increase of 4.7%. They couldn't fill it last year, don't seem to be able to fill it this, so what hope next year.🤔

Reading other threads - mainly about the amount of late availability on 'honey pot' sites - I can only assume the bean counters have got it wrong and a lot of members have turned their backs on the price hikes and gone elsewhere.

We quite like Kendal site, we've used it a few times for a stopover going South/North. The last time we used it they had felled some of the trees and cut back hard lots of others. There is still lots of shady secluded areas but its a nice site.

Agreed much better than the car park site's, Carsington Water is another one that's like it.

As to the prices and sites that are not full I think the club needs to put their thinking caps on and ask why. increasing prices to cover losses is not the way forward.

    I never finished this sentence!

Given that we were on a pretty secluded pitch (it was very busy) I was amazed at how good the wifi was. A high bank behind caravan, trees either side and a copse the other side of the access track in front with no sign of a wifi mast nearby.

Not had one from the C&MC but just had one from the C&CC reminding me of the 20 percent discount for seniors at selected sites.

But they don’t know you don’t work. We are technically OAPs but still work and sometimes peak time is the only chance to get away.

Not that we will be going anywhere for some time. Busy, busy, busy

we had mails from both clubs today....as you say, more than able to decide for ourselves when and where we go and don't need 'riveting updates' from the club telling there are vacancies all over..

...and, like you, we wouldn't be using club sites in peak.

It would be interesting to know why just this one site has had a reduction. There is no explanation.  It's also interesting to note that this site has a  higher rate for October half term, which I know is normal, but it covers two weeks, others only cover the last week of Oct. Also it's interesting that Coniston and Meathop Fell have a mid-week reduction. The way this club works out it's prices is mind boggling.

Didn’t even know this Site was there! Sounds way too taxing for a lot of potential visitors, (care on entering, having to manoeuvre onto a pitch, possibility of trees dropping sap, too many trees). Sounds very nice to be honest, but still expensive in peak season. Can you hear the M6 from the site?

Levens Hall is well worth a visit - both the gardens and inside. My son and family went last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the Duke of Wellington connections. And the cafe.

Possibly popular with Scottish visitors, the Scottish schools are off earlier than the English ones.

Because the OP heading states "Price drop"

Also my comment on the two other sites in the lakes refers to the 50% off mid week offer.

Both comments relate to a reduction as I see it.

It's a pity there weren't many more like it. Maybe a 2 for the price of 1 offer. Now that would be wishful thinking.

Yes "2 for the price of 1" would be loads better than "50% off"!  laughing

looking at the Scottish sites some do have a 2 week half term and some don't. Yellowcraig even has a 50% midweek offer.

Like I said, club prices are mind boggling. The must sit for hours to work out all the different price bands. The funniest one is Uttoxeter Racecourse. There is only 2 bands, low and high season. If you want a laugh look at the price difference between them, 10p per head. Just what is the point of that

Our schools are a law unto themselves, drives our DIL mad!

She teaches in East Renfrewshire  but her children are at schools in East Ayrshire, the two often have different holidays.

East coast and West coast are often a week apart, so no doubt our Club is hiking prices for both.

Not seen any ‘Marketing’ for the price drop @ Kendal.  It seems to only appear if searching for Kendal.  We also enjoyed Levens Hall visit some time ago whilst @ Kendal site.  Found the approach road to the site full of pot holes at the time - not sure if it has improved.

2 nights for the price of 1 much better the 50% of the mid-week pitch price.
