Caravan & Motorhome Club site prices

We are also avoiding Club sites in what I think is called the shoulder season as that has become just too expensive for us. Our aim is to keep below £20 per night as much as possible, and by using CLs and CCC sites we keep our average well below that.
As far as going abroad is concerned, we did not look this year, but last year we could get a return from Harwich for under £150, so it is not necessary to spend several hundreds to cross the Channel unless you want to, or need to travel peak season.
I would however agree that going abroad in high summer for only a few weeks, with caravan, makes for a very expensive trip!

Kjell, agree with all your points...
ferry prices, even western channel crossings at £288 return, add little to a long break away..
in the uk, we don't set a limit on site prices as such, but a good deal of our touring here is on CL/CS/THS sites which, as you say, keeps the average down despite usually taking in a couple of club sites (either club) each year.
however, we did push the boat out (at Henley) and i think we paid just over £30 a night to spend the week there but it was their peak week and we felt this was better value than £27 ish at HFO and only done to coincide with a special event.
away from that, any price over £25 gets my attention and will often be superseded by a better value small site or CL/THS, after all we are generally going for the location as a walking/cycling base and extra facilities (while possibly taken into account for special breaks) aren't really necessary for us when touring here..we have our own shower and loo and just need a little sunshine so as to enjoy it.
OTOH, in the middle of a 12 week tour 'elsewhere' we may be gagging for a full facs site where we can put our feet up by the pool for a fortnight or so but even then we don't have to stump up much more than £15 (€18).

although the wrong way for home, if you a get chance, Marlow is a pleasant surprise and the NT property Cliveden is just beyond at Cookham. formal and informal gardens a treat, house as opulent as you like.
lucky enought have stayed there a while back.

When the booking season starts members gloat on here about booking multiple sites ..Wouldnt that be why people wing it ?

Some sites may be considered pricey, but there are also some cracking deals. I’m just looking at a 2 night stay at Crystal Palace later this month - £48. Bargain, even though the site has become a bit tired pending a decision on its future. Great site, great location, cheap as chips in London terms.

It’s what the system allows so it cannot be abuse.

Correct ,cannot argue Personally dont like these glamping things on both clubs there are so many about on club sites and independant sites seems like the bubble will burst ,some time ,good pitches ruined ,??

My vote would be for “smug intervention”, with a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure.
