    We are also avoiding Club sites in what I think is called the shoulder season as that has become just too expensive for us.   Our aim is to keep below £20 per night as much as possible, and by using CLs and CCC sites we keep our average well below that.

    As far as going abroad is concerned, we did not look this year, but last year we could get a return from Harwich  for under £150, so it is not necessary to spend several hundreds to cross the Channel unless you want to, or need to travel peak season.

    I would however agree that going abroad in high summer for only a few weeks, with caravan, makes for a very expensive trip!

    When the booking season starts members gloat on here about booking multiple sites ..Wouldnt that be why people wing it ?

    Some sites may be considered pricey, but there are also some cracking deals. I’m just looking at a 2 night stay at Crystal Palace later this month - £48. Bargain, even though the site has become a bit tired pending a decision on its future. Great site, great location, cheap as chips in London terms.

    Assume you're sorted for Shrewsbury, but can recommend a fab CL nearby called Woodville - serviced pitches, toilet & shower (combined rooms) - just £16 a night! smile

    Correct ,cannot argue  Personally dont like these glamping things on both clubs there are so many about on club sites and independant sites seems like the bubble will burst ,some time ,good pitches ruined ,??

    I did go on to say that I couldn't imagine any circumstances in which we'd make use of the benefit - pays to read the whole thread before commenting really.
