Stopover nr Zaragoza advice
Hi
We are travelling from Laredo (between Santander and Bilbao) to Benicassim with a caravan and need a stopover site not too far off main motorway/roads. Zaragoza municipal site seems to fit the bill but reviews aren't great and someone has said its tricky to find which is not great when you're towing a long outfit. Any recommendations or advice would be gratefully received. I have looked at google maps but it is does seem complicated. Other site recommendations also welcome .
I was planning on heading towards Valencia from Zaragoza and then back towards Benicassim
Thank you

your easiest route is correct, head towards Valencia (actually Sagunt) and then take the N-225 SE towards Benicassim.
for a half way stop, Zaragosa is the 'default' but is is expensive for just an overnight, and can be a bit tricky to find. we've used it a few times in our early years but in our MH we use aires for a rest (Teruel or Tudela) or just go all the way in a day.
sites for caravans are a bit thin on the ground along the A23 but I'm sure some other vanners will have a recommendation, good luck and enjoy.....great location.

We have used the Municipal site at Zaragoza many times. Yes, people say it can be hard to find, but the roads are good and it’s easy to correct if you take a wrong road as there are plenty of roundabouts; it’s well signposted too. And yes, a bit expensive for an overnight halt, but needs must: there‘s not much choice. And yes, the reviews are not great but it’s not that bad and you’ll have plenty of company because of the scarcity of sites. It’s a well used stopping point. Some ‘vanners stay a couple of days in order to take a bus into the city.
I am another frequent user of the Zaragoza Municiple site. It has deteriorated over the years but I agree 100 percent with what WTG says above. Last time I used it was March 2018 on the way back from Spain.

We stopped over at the municipal earlier this year, on our way from Bilbao to the Med. Not the most scenic spot, but the pitches are a good size and easily accessible. Zaragoza itself is absolutely stunning and well worth a visit. The bus stop is very near the campsite and the busses run every 15 mins. The site doesn't take ACSI, but we got a worthwhile reduction with the camping key card, the one that's included with RP insurance.
A word of warning, we were planning to stop at Zaragoza on our way back to the ferry, but when we arrived at the campsite it was closed due to a music festival in the park. Worth checking!
Enjoy Benicassim. 🌞

For those travelling in winter, Teruel is reputed to be the coldest place in Spain. Don't forget your woolly socks.

CY, yes it is....but perhaps the aire is the safest place in Spain as it's outside the main police headquarters...
as mentioned above, often worth taking the time (having stopped anyway) to visit where you have arrived...although we haven't 'done' Zaragosa (yet), we found Teruel quite interesting.

We used Camping Lago Resort at Neuvalos S.E. of Zaragoza with a 6.3m caravan in May, not by any means the tightest site I`ve been on but depends how long you outfit is. On leaving you need to go back to Calatayud and onto the A23 via the N234 then onto Benicassim. We came S. from Logrono on the N111 nice trip over the mountains good road, bit windy in places but nice trip. Camping Lago Resort is a terraced site, pitches on the small side and facilities adequate to good.
