The Germans have let them down. The new ferry for the Portsmouth - Caen route has not yet been delivered (or even finished) because of financial difficulties at the builders in Germany.

In the meantime B/F  are juggling their other ferries from one route to another, having to fit new engines into Pont Aven over the winter, renting a ship temporarily from Stena for the service to and from Cork, as well as waiting for the new ship - so they are not publishing a timetable beyond next Easter till they see what ferries they have available.

    "Club Voyage
Designed for regular travellers, Club Voyage is a fantastic way to make substantial savings on all of Brittany Ferries' routes and services between the UK, France and Spain."

I googled it and came up with the above

"Yes, the 30 % discount applies to car and caravan as well as passengers. You also get a free day cabin too on certain crossings at certan times, and a breakfast voucher on some crossings too, but the 30 % discount does NOT apply to the cost of overnight cabins. They are still charged at full price.

But for members of the Caravan Club their "caravan goes free" offer , again at certain times, and the possibility of free, or almost free ,Camping Cheques from them might perhaps be a better deal..... It all depends..."

Found this as a question on UK campsite forum  cool

AD,  The Club offers wonderful bargains on some B/F crossings, on some routes, and on some dates. But there are other times where the Club does not offer discounts and that is when B/F Club Voyage membership comes into its own.

The first year fee for Club Voyage membership is a stinger but things look brighter after that.  My membership this year for France s costing me £70 but 30% discount on a peak season crossing covers that. And of course every time I find a Friend like you I get £10 back - so my membership next year will only be £30 or £40 instead of £70.

And I can also add in the perk of free cabins for going to and from France if I go in the daytime, or an allowance of £8.50 per person for breakfasts if I go overnight, plus 10% off other meals, and free date changes which was mentioned the other day.  It really is up to you individually to do the math. What suits me might not suit you.

    Best regards.

I've looked at that too AD, but like you we tend to use Hull for one of our trips each year so recouping the initial cost would take a bit longer.

I was surprised when checking for ferries from Bilbao in November to find that there is only 1 crossing on the 28th Nov. The previous crossing is the 31st October. Is that normal ?

This year we are crossing from Plymouth to Roscoff  in September but had intended to come back mid November from Bilbao, with no crossings other than Santander (timings are not suitable for us unless staying overnight in Portsmouth on return) it now looks like we will have to come back via France.

I am only a member of the French version of the scheme. First year membership is now £150 but subsequent years £75.  I know nothing about the Spanish version.

But hey, I have just checked my account and found that six people have already used my "Friends and Family" code, so with a £10 kickback  from B/F to me for each of them I have an allowance of £60 pending for 2020. D.V.

smile just been checking ferries and the club and BF are returning the same price for the ferry we are interested in, so with a friends and family discount going through BF would work out the more attractive fare for the same product. smile

If you don't mind I'll come back to you once I've had a chance to discuss with OH he is rather busy just now.

DD that's very generous of BF to do that, however I've noticed that the breakfast allowance and 10% discount on meals don't apply to the economie sailings. At the moment looking for Santander to Portsmouth all I can see is Economie sailings.

DD, many thanks for your kind offer, will get back to you if needed still working out what way we are coming back.

I didnt realise there were two clubs and I have for the last 3 years been going Bilbao out and Caen back. I suppose I could opt for the Spanish club and use the CAMC "caravan free" crossing for the return. Worth thinking about.

AD, the way I read it was that you would get 30% off your Bilbao crossing + £8.50 breakfast and 10% off meals and drinks over £15 in one purchase. Then your Caen crossing would be 15% off the crossing + £8.50 breakfast and a 'free' day cabin if you so wished. Would the C&MC caravan go free better that.

As DD said with the Spanish membership card you would get 15% discount on French crossing + the other benefits.

I think the breakfast offer might be for overnight ferries only.
