Disappointed

Well, no, I still don't understand the distinction. When I booked, say Putts Corner earlier in the year the "from price" (which actually I didn't even look at, why would I?) was, presumably the lowest price for a night at Putts Corner, not for a week at Hillhead.
Now folk have suggested that some of the "from" prices are not actually available, I'm not sure about that, but I don't see how your cruise example is any different.

What has a world cruise vs a trip to the CI got to do with the way the club shows site prices?🤔
What, too, is the big difficulty in looking at the site fees listed on the web page for a site, or looking it up in the downloadable/printed price supplement? Before the change you had to look it up so I see virtually no difference now. Actually, it’s much simpler and quicker than attempting to contact a CL to confirm a price.

British centred-ness at it's best

I think you are missing the point I've made a few times that other people tow to Italy apart from the British as you appear to think, and even then I'm sure a few do it from:
Portsmouth Santander Ferry | Prices from Just £75 | DirectFerries.co.uk
£75 - that is cheap mind!

It is interesting that those who are getting upset about this practice, which appears to be travel/leisure industry wide, are the ones who self confess to not using club sites all that much
I just can't figure that out? What is the problem? If you are not going to use club sites why are you bothered? Are you bothering for the rest of us?
Also would these people use club sites if the from price was taken out?

a 24+ hour crossing, another day of driving and £400 in fuel added to that - no thanks.
I've just booked Newcastle to Pisa mid September for £171 return, and only under 5 hours door to door. Will test out the Italian passport.

Do you really think the club is doing anything that the rest of the travel industry is not doing?
Following the rest like sheep doesn't make it right or acceptable.

I use the club as a convenience like I would any other commercial venture. Just cos I pay a fee doesn’t make me feel like a member of something unique or special where different commercial rules apply. I stay where I like and it’s not priced based.

I think everyone seems pretty much agreed that no one is actually fooled by these headline prices. Which other than following the rest like sheep, begs the question why do they bother ?
Unlike many other sellers, the prices are clearly displayed on the website for the next year, with a print out available on demand for those wishing to use the handbook. Personally I see no point in the headline price. If they show anything it should be a range for lowest to highest standard pitch with EHU +2. This could be displayed simply, as a for instance, 17 - 34.

agree with Steve....the price list (and/or prices returned as part of an online booking) are quite sufficient....we can clearly see where prices are going (with the rolling year on year system) and what they will be for 'our' booking.
to add some headline that is (all but) unattainable doesn't help customers (unless visiting on their own on Nov 3rd) and only serves to highlight the gulf between what the club is trying to portray as 'competitive' and the reality of actual club prices.
yes, other organisations do it, but the club had managed perfectly well prior to this introduction.
do any of us actually think it's made a difference....other than those (plenty) who've felt it's 'wrong'?

IMO, I think its had the opposite affect, judging from a few other forums its not liked at all. Some folk have gone so far as to suggest they would leave the club as they think its misleading.
I also agree with Steve's suggestion of a lowest to highest price for a standard pitch with EHU + 2
I would also like to see less price bands, they are just not needed.

As with anything one ‘buys’ it’s about reading the details, then deciding if it is ‘value for money’ for yourself personally. In the OP’s case I think the pricing from £10.15 plus the mid-week discount without reading the details caused the disappointment.
Whether the new way of pricing has made a difference or is wrong I don’t know but if we the members want to continue using club sites we will, I guess adapt to this way of pricing.

The reason I don’t leave the club with the dummy spat is because of the other benefits, CLs, travel, insurance
Will have used 3 club sites by the end of the year and to be brutally honest I don’t give a fig for advertised prices. (I know how commercial outfits work) Like other places I will find out the price when I get there.
The way to judge a site is do you feel you got value for money
