Hi everyone. I wonder can your advise me?
The gas connection point shown in the piccy (which hopefully I've attached) has no fitting to connect the gas bottle.
How should I proceed? Is it just a matter of getting the appropriate fitting? If so, which do I get?
Thanks in advance everyone
Cyffo

Perhaps the piccy  should  display, but, alas, it still doesn't frown

That's a fitting for a propane cyclinder. Butane has a different one. We carry one of each as we use Propane in winter and Butane in summer and just change hoses around when needed.

Are you intending to have one or two gas cylinders? If you want two you can use the connector in the picture below. It fits on top of your regulator. That would allow you to use two of the pigtails illustrated by BB above. It also gives an indication when the gas is getting low. It also has a handy function as a leak detector.

Yes, there's room for two bottles so that seems the wisest way to go. I've got two blue bottles, one I think is empty, the other at least partly full.
I've only recently acquired the van, it's to be serviced on 17th July so hopefully all will be sorted gas supply-wise.
Thanks everyone for your very useful input. I'm a lot wiser now.

I'll stick to the UK for the foreseeble future, once I'm completely competent with maneuvering and reversing, I may venture further afield.
Thanks for your responses everyone. I'm better informed now.

Cyffo, if you intend using the 'van all year round you will be better off exchanging the Blue ( i.e. Butane gas ) cylinders for red ( Propane gas ) ones. Butane does not vaporize very well at low temperatures unlike propane.

    EDIT  --  Sorry  BB  & Cyffo,  I completely missed  BB's post  I must be getting tired { or old  }

Thanks for all the replies, all very useful and informative.

I only plan to travel in the UK at least for the foreseeable future, and to carry just one Calor Butane (Blue?) bottle. (Butaine because I already have a 7KG blue gas bottle.)
What connector(s) and hose do I require?

    Thanks again,
    Cyffo.

We caravaned for years with Butane because as above, I already had the gas & regulators. The only time it didn't gas off was at home when we were going to use the caravan's oven as an extra oven one Christmas during that really long very cold spell we had. We only changed to propane with this caravan as it was easier to change bottles than change the fixed regulator & fittings.

Would there be any difference between the fitting on a Calor Propane bottle and any other propane bottle?
