yes, we spent a week travelling just the 100 miles or so along the stretch you describe, David, calling in at several stops, enjoying the lovely I spoilt coastal scenery.

and I agree with TG earlier, OH and I often come t on how clean French towns and villages are, definitely not litter strewn in any way....the beautiful floral areas are the icing on the cake...

Not too far from you, BB, you could spend a day touring the Wiltshire towns/villages of Corsham, Bradford on Avon, Lacock, Castle Combe and Biddestone and be equally impressed with their cleanliness and floral displays! smile

You keep them on, David. They're probably going to match your complexion when you get home if the forecast for the next few days over there is anything to go by! wink

Back to dunclair's op, we arrived at Camping Navarre, the municipal at Langres, to find the site almost full up at 4pm. There are no set emplacements so the free for all allows some clever clogs to take up more than their fare share of space. Prized sites on the embattlements facing west are now roasting in the sun as we endure Le canicule. (Look it up) We may be about to have a strong disagreement with the couple next to us whose air con is drowning out the singing of the blackbirds.

We're seasoned campaigners , David, and we've never seen it so busy at this time of year. The only time we have turned up and left was when the site was full of gypsies who had come for the koi carp fare! C

In regard to how busy sites are then it will vary for all depending on location, time of year and the sites popularity.

We have twice been unable to get on our favourite Italian site in mid May yet now are in an ACSI site in France with our MH buddies and we are the only English units.

On arrival there were plenty of French units but since the weekend there are probably more Spanish-we are just over 100 miles from the border.

On arrival our friends had a bit of shunting to do due to the trees but they make the site bearable in the temperatures we have had-mid 30s- and will be very welcome if the forecast is right.

Regarding returning to the UK then we are more than happy to do so. Holidays are taken for a change, a break, good weather, etc etc not due to any dislike of our own country.

    Hi David,

Yes Western France for us too and also on a 14 for 11 site. Holiday dates have been a discussion with our friends as we are surprised to so many school age children here. Quite a few Germans, some French  and now lots of Spanish but still loads of pitches available and next week ACSI stops so can’t see it filling up then.

Just seen another Brit MH so there are now three of us!

Dunclair wondered where all the 'Brits' were. They're all at Viviers aux Carpe, Seraucourt le Grand! Temp here has just dipped to 29C.
