And that sort of info it seems, is common knowledge, and is similar on ccc sites? But will it help stop some posters "questioning"site prices as on top of the salaries, are the other large operating costs of running a big business

but yet there is that strange phenomenon where people complain and yet still use club sites extensively?

As always Google is your friend -

UK minimum wage is        1453 euros /month

    France minimum wage      1521 euros/month

Which country is therefore paying its wardens  "peanuts"?

The last couple of pages are fairly irrelevant.

Chrissie refers to 2 CAMC sites so anything to do with abroad or independent sites is totally irrelevant to the thread. But we cannot answer because Chrissie hasn't provided details so for goodness sakes Chrissie put us all out of the misery of an Us v Them debate again and tell which flipping sites you are referring to. Thank you.

It’s surely near impossible to draw any conclusions from that as it depends on the rate of taxation, cost of utilities, housing, pies and all manner of things as to which country actually provides a better income on its minimum wage.

Not really. As I said earlier, as a nation, we rarely kick up a fuss about the price of most commodities. That’s why you see so many adverts for market comparison sites, because folks often cannot be bothered to shop around for most things. Companies make pricing rather difficult to compare, couple this with a lethargic approach to good value and you have a captive market, and prices keep going up and up.

We consider our membership good value, but it’s the extras (CLs, off peak prices, MWD) that make it worth our while staying. Like Moulesy, we seldom use Club Sites at peak times, (unless we have a specific secondary reason) and lower our preferred average nightly spend by mixing our site stays with no facility sites, CLs and small private sites.

Edit I was responding to ETs post earlier, sorry should have quoted it😁

We use a variety of sites. But our preference is CC sites overall whether facility or non-facility.

Have to admit that we look at Rallies, THS's, CL's/CS's now before even considering Club Sites. They are just getting way to expensive & lacking in value.

We've just come off a rally on a commercial site in

Cornwall. On site shop, chippy, pizzas, bar, cafe, shows, 2 swimming pools etc. All at £10.75 a night.

Now moved onto a CL near Looe for a fortnight. Had we booked Looe site it would have been around £300.

The CL is only £84 for the fortnight! Says it all!!!

Individuals’ salaries, yes, but not general pay scales.

You can discover the pay scales for various jobs by grade,  such as the Civil Service, but not the actual pay Joe Bloggs receives.

well a quick look shows them to be quite different, one has all grass (so it could cost £1 and it still wouldn't get my custom) the other a mixture with half HS.

One has more recreational facilities, large play field, and storage facilities which adds to the workload and leads to having more wardens perhaps? And tent pitches which again add to the workload? Also a baby toddler room as well.

Not conclusive but a good guide to the differing prices I would think?

    disparity in rates...

Indeed and I think being in different countries being a significant factor David.

And there are sites over there that are far more expensive than anything the club has, so it works both ways?

I think your post speaks volumes about club sites at peak times even in your "younger days" being full with people maybe less able than you (your post)to pay for them, you then try to compare what you do now with today's costs at club sites which is compleatly out of contextundecided

The two sites are like chalk and cheese as far as club site are concerned,  and Morn Hill being a site that is in serious  need of an upgrade (hence the pricing)but will not have the necessary money invested until the local council who own the top half and is on an annual lease, have stopped sitting on their hands as to whether they are going to use it for a traveller site or sell/give long lease tothe club

If club sites are full in peak periods, then the rate charged can be justified. If they are not full then the charge will probably be too high although there are other factors at work.

The sites do not make massive profits so the prices must reflect the running costs although more popular ones do apparantly subsidise some less popular ones. The clubs accounts can be seen by all of us in the magazine and there is no evidence that I can see of profiteering in them.

AD is merely expressing a desire to get "bang for his buck". Give him a break.
