Arriving on the 19.45 into Cherbourg late August so wanting a site close by for a night.
Were due to arrive early afternoon but ferry changed by Brittany.

There is a campsite called Le Village Vert at Tollevast which just out of Cherbourg, can't find a website for it. I am pretty sure it used to be called Le Pins which we used a couple of times coming home. It looks as it has been update since all those years ago!

There is also the municipal site at Valognes - about 12 miles south of Cherbourg, which used to be open all hours with no barrier - but that's something you would need to check as it was also a good few years ago for us.

de l'Anse du Brick is not far away, we stayed a few years ago and it was very good. 10km from Cherbourg and open till 8pm in summer, I guess if they know you are arriving on the ferry they will arrange access for you.

Hi Geordieboy,
The Cherbourg Brittany Ferries terminal has a dedicated area for customer caravan and motorhome overnighting, just off the big roundabout next to their customer/staff car park, inside their terminal area. We have stayed there twice this year and no problems. When you get off the ferry head out to the main road and onto the big roundabout and off at the exit before the ferry checking in area. There will be others there, a fairly popular spot. You can use the BF facilities and there is a small Bistro type cafe doing simple meals and refreshments. If you were heading home from France there is a general parking/waiting area just before the BF o/n parking, don’t stop there because that is outside BF control and not patrolled and further to walk to the loo’s!

Many thanks, great advice.
Like the sound of the fishing port for coming back and some good options to research over the summer for arrival in Cherbourg.
Thanks to you all.

there are a lot of places to park up in the port area for an overnighter, did it at the Poole port, never actually done it in Cherbourg, but when we returned last Thursday 0845 ferry there were quite a few (6) MH/caravans parked up obviously stayed the night.
